Sunday Recital
Mrs. J. 0. Turner presented
her piano students in recital on
Sunday afternoon at the Christian
church.
Pupils were Gail Hoskins, Linda
Stewart, Stephen Lindstrom, Billy
Wagner, Jean Stockard, Shannon
Mahoney, Judy Schmidt, Jean
Schmidt, Celia Boulden, Linda
Heimbigner, Cheryle Lundell,
Karen Lundell and Judy-Smith.
In addition to recital numbers,
Karen Lundell played Beethoven's
Moonlight Sonata on the pipe
organ, Cheryle Lundell sang a
solo and Karen Lundell and Mrs
lurner played a piano-organ
duet, "Blest Be The Tie That
Binds." arranged by Ethel Smith.
At the reception which follow
ed in the church basement, Mrs.
Lester Boulden and Mrs. Algott
Lundell poured. Mothers of the
pupils furnished the cookies.
Blue daisies and white snap
dragons were used about the
rooms.

roses and pink candles. They
were assisted by Mrs. Julian

Mrs. Harlan Crawford and Mrs.

which was attended by about 35

of Helmuth Hermann and the
wedding is to take place June 17

director of district No. 2 of the
northwest region of Soroptimist
International, paid her official
visit to the Heppner club Friday
evening.
A dinner was held at O'Don
nell's Wagon Wheel Lounge
where Mrs. Clark gave a talk on
the objectives of Soroptimism
and was presented a plant from
the group.

Soroptimists Hear
Results of Survey
At the Thursday luncheon
meeting of the Soroptimist club
held at O'Donnell's Mrs. W. O.
George gave a resume of the
survey of the community activi
ties which the club has worked
on all year, as a project. It
is hoped from the findings of
this survey that the Soroptimist
club will be able to find a new
project.
Guests were Mrs. Walter Barger
of Gresham and Mrs. Cleve Van
Schoiack.

day afternoon.

Eighth grade graduates were

The farm home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. E. McMillan was the
scene of a dinner party honoring
the eighth graders on Wednes
day evening. The hostesses for
the evening were Mrs. W. E.
McMillan, Mrs. Bob Davidson and
Mrs. C. C. Jones. The menu con
sisted of fruti cocktail, molded
salad, roast beef, mashed pota
toes and gravy, string beans, hot
rolls, and apple pie. Following
the dinner games were played,
two for the money and dancing
was enjoyed with the youngsters
trying their hand at "square
dancing". Those present for the
evening were Dennis Doherty,
Bobby Davidson, Gregory Leyva
Stanley Schoonover, Russell Dol
ven, Paula Barak, Charlene Jones,
and Rosetta Laney. The dinner
was served' by Mrs. Gar Leyva
Mrs. O. M. Laney with the kit
chen work, Mrs. Davidson, Mrs.
McMillan and Mrs. Jones. Later
in the evening Mr. and Mrs. Dol
ven were guests.
Patrick Cutsforth was a pa
tient in Pioneer Memorial hospi
tal for several days last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt
are the parents of a baby daugh
ter born Saturday in Pioneer Me
morial hospital.
