Miss Becket is a graduate of Heppner high school in the class of 1954 and of the Seattle Dentist's Assistant school. Mr. Burkenbinse is a graduate of Ileppner high, class of 1952, and has spent two years in Ja pan with the U. S. Navy. Creamery Co. Eighth Anniversary Celebrated By The Soroptimist Club The Soroptimist club celebrat ed its eighth birthday at the Thursday luncheon meeting at O'Donnell's. Mrs. W. 0. George told some of the history of the club and had the charter members present stand. They were Mrs. Loyal Parker, Mrs. Grace Nickerson, Miss Leta Humphreys, Mrs, E. E. Gonty, Mrs. Joe Hughes, and Mrs. George. Mrs. Gonty, president, initiated Mrs. John Pfeiffer into the club and presented her with a corsage. Mrs. C. E. McQuarrie was a guest. Bridge Club Meets At Ferguson Home Mrs. Raymond Ferguson enter tained the Whats Trumps bridge club last Wednesday afternoon with a salad luncheon. Rebekahs Plan For District Convention Officers drill practices was held at a meeting of the Sans Souci Rcbekah lodge, No. 33 Fri day night at the Odd Fellows hall. Plans were made for the district convention to be held here in the fall. Choir practice Thursday, at 8 p. m. Returns From Islands Mrs. Norman Nelson returned Thursday of last week from the grange tour to the Hawaiian Is lands. The tour was made by plane both ways. There were 46 grangers on tne piane. an. im Mrs. Joe Gutteridge of Hermis the tourists. They stayed at the Reef Hotel at Wai- kiki. A scenic tour was nidut around the island of Oahu where they saw native plants and flow ers, churches and temples. She also went to the island of Hawaii and saw the volcanoes. She visit ed Pearl Harbor and saw the hattleshiD Arizona, the Bishop museum, heard the broadcast "Hawaii Calls" from the Banyan Court. She reported a very wonderful trip. Mrs. Noel Dobyns and Mrs. Grace Ware went to Hood River to attend the Pacific University choir that stopped there Wednes Hav nn a tour. Dorothy Dobyns; daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Dobyns, a student at the Univer sity, is a member of the choir. Mrs. Gilbert Crumb of Morton, Wash., also attended and came home with her mother, Mrs. Ware and sister, Mrs. Dobyns, to spend a week. Mrs. Leo Crabtree took her mother, Mrs. Blanche Schellar to her home in Salem last week. Mrs. L. L. Farrar of Junction Citv is visiting at the home of her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. David McLeod. and Diane, Cindy and Nancy Morlan, Betty Olmstead and Pat Kress. Also Mr. and Mrs. Domi nick Tatone of Arlington. Mrs. - Tatone was assisted by Prudence Kennedy. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Califf and children Danny and Cindy, Hermiston were visiting friends on the project Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Marlow spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dannie Ransier in Stanfield. Mr. and Mrs. Laddie Goddard, Goodnoe Hills,' Wash., visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Larry West, s.on of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West, is ill at his home with the flu.
