The Soroptimist club celebrat
ed its eighth birthday at the
Thursday luncheon meeting at
O'Donnell's.
Mrs. W. 0. George told some
of the history of the club and
had the charter members present
stand. They were Mrs. Loyal
Parker, Mrs. Grace Nickerson,
Miss Leta Humphreys, Mrs, E. E.
Gonty, Mrs. Joe Hughes, and Mrs.
George.
Mrs. Gonty, president, initiated
Mrs. John Pfeiffer into the club
and presented her with a corsage.

District Convention

held at a meeting of the Sans
Souci Rcbekah lodge, No. 33 Fri
day night at the Odd Fellows
hall. Plans were made for the
district convention to be held
here in the fall.

Returns From Islands
Mrs. Norman Nelson returned
Thursday of last week from the
grange tour to the Hawaiian Is
lands. The tour was made by

hattleshiD Arizona, the Bishop
museum, heard the broadcast
"Hawaii Calls" from the Banyan
Court. She reported a very
wonderful trip.

to attend the Pacific University

Mrs. Gilbert Crumb of Morton,
Wash., also attended and came
home with her mother, Mrs. Ware
and sister, Mrs. Dobyns, to spend
a week.

mother, Mrs. Blanche Schellar to
her home in Salem last week.
