Heppner Gazette Times, Thursday, January 5, 1956 Boardman Area Still Snowy By Mary Lee Marlow About five inches of snow fell here again on Friday and Satur day nights. The sun shown all day Saturday, with the tempera ture at 34 above, but the skies clouded up again at night bring ing more snow. There was some wind that drifted the snow dur ing the night also. Minimum temperature Tuesday morning was 15 above. Friends were sorry to hear of the death of Robert F. Woods at Yamhill, Dec. 19 at the ago of 59. He and his wife moved from here to Yamhill about three years ago, after living here two years. He died suddenly from a heart attack while doing chores on his farm. Funeral services were held Dec. 22 in McMinnville. Besides his wife, Bessie, to whom he was married in 1938, he is survived by two brothers and four sisters. One of them being Mrs. William Earnherdt of Hermiston. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tannehill and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Tanne hill went to La Grande last Thursday to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Tannehill. Mrs. Anna Skoubo, Hood River, is visiting for a couple of weeks here at the homes of her sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skoubo and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skoubo. Other holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skoubo were Mrs. Skou bo's brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Luhrs and four children, Corvallis; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Luhrs and four children, Langlois; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Luhrs and daughter Terry, Pen dleton; also Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brothers, La Grande. Miss Zelma Cowan went to Portland last Thursday, and re turned home Saturday. Mrs. Pat Healy and four child ren, Portland, visited several days last week at the home of her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Rands. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kunze return ed home last week from Portland where they spent Christmas at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward McClellan, Sr. Visitors at the Kunze home for Ney Year's were their son and daughter-in-law, 'turning to Eugene Sunday. ivirs. Mr. White leaves his wife, Leona Leach White and a host of relatives and friends. Both Mr, and Mrs. White are well remembered in this com munity, having gone to high school here and graduating from this school, after which they were married and moved to California, where he attended school, be coming a doctor. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George White and she was the daughter" of Mrs. Minnie Leach Ciscero. Mrs. Min nie Ciscero, who has for several years made her home in Okla homa is staying with her child ren in California this winter. She is reported to be in ill health the last few weeks.. Mrs. Gladys Young and family have moved into the Ola Holla way house. Mr. and Mrs. Jack O'Harra of Portland accompanied by their children were holiday guests at his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Newt O'Harra. Let's don't forget P-TA to be held at the auditorium next Tues day night. This is hobby night so let's come and bring our hobbies. and three children, and Mr. and Mrs. Myron Watts and children Donna and Richard all went to Sandpoint, Idaho to attend a family reunion Christmas day at the home of the Watts' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Gastineau. Home coming guests on New Year's day at the Burton Peck home were Mr. and Mrs. Don Peck and son Donnie of Pilot Rock, and Mr and Mrs. Bud Peck and sons Terry and Bobby of Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Angell and children spent the holidays in Portland where Betty Angell at tended the clinic day at Shriner's hospital. They were accompan ied as far as Hood River by Mrs. George Irvin and three children who visited at the Bert Darnielle home. Charlene Jones spent the holi days in Hood River with Judy Darnielle,' going down with George Irvin on Friday night when he went after Mrs. Irvin who was visiting there. The first meeting of the sea son for the Thespians was held on Tuesday night at the Cecil Jones home. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Cecil Jones and the minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved. Committee re ports were read and accepted with Mrs. George Irvin giving the report on the play to be given on Feb. 11th, the name of which is "Hessie of the Hills", with the following cast: Parson Bubble Cecil Jones; Pa Crackett George Irvin; Ma Crackett, Delpha Jones; Hessie their teen age daughter Jo Irvin; Arkansas their younger daughter who wants a beau June Cooper; Ber thy their youngest daughter Marj Angell; Aunt Suzy who lives with them loves to sleep and dance Barbara Cutsforth; Abbie Snap a nosey neighbor from down the holler Pat Ma jeske; Grandpappy a bewhiskered barefooted fiddlin' fule Ted Mc Millan; Elmer Applerust a young mountaineer in love with Hessie, Jim Angel; and Daniel P.
