House Held By Several Over New Years Holiday Mr. and Mrs. James Healy and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Daggett were co-hosts at a party Saturday evening, preceding the New Year's eve dance at the Elks Club. About sixty guests were pre sent. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ruggles held open house Saturday even ing. About eighteen friends called during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bedford were hosts at an open house Monday afternoon between the hours of two and six. About twenty six called during the afternoon. 1. 0. 0. F.-Rebekahs To Hold Installation Sans Soucl Rebekah lodge and trie Oddfellows will hold a public joint installation of officers Wed nesday, January 11. Miss Rona Lieuallen of Athena who was delegate from this dis trict on the United Nations Pilgri mage will speak on her tour and show slides. Correspondence was read and a package that had beeen received from the Soroptimist club at Tamworth, England was unwrap ped. Mr. Buschke took them to Lebanon. Mr. and Mrs. John Eubanks and daughter, Sandra, spent lastj week in Portland with relatives and also visited at the Errett Hummel home at Beaverton. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan and daughter, Marilyn, returned home from Portland Friday, where Marilyn underwent minor surgery on teh mouth. Mrs. Wate Crawford spent the holidays at the home of her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Vernice Crawford in Helix. Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Crawford and daughters and Wate Crawford went after her Friday of last week. Mrs. Edna Yarnell of Portland spent the holidays with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Connor. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ely were Portland visitors last week. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lieuallen spent last week with relatives in Weston. Mrs. Alice Smith of Heppner and Arthur Crawford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wate Crowford of lone, were married Dec. JO at Winne mmucca, Nevada. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Newitt re turned last week from a trip into Nevada. Floyd Wiles visited at the Dale Ray home last week while on his way "from the Veteran's hospital in Portland to the Pioneer Me morial hospital in Heppner. Rev. and Mrs. Alfred Shirley returned home Friday of last week from Portland and Salem where they visited their sons the past week. Mr. and Mrs Marion Hayden of Heppner spent one dav last week at the Dale Ray home. Jan. at the mann. 11 P-TA meeting at 8 13 Topic club meeting home of Mrs. Victor Riet- Heppner High School SCOOP By Nancy Anderson Mrs. Marie Clary, high school teacher and librarian, was admit ted to the Pioneeer Memorial hospital Doc. 29. She is in iso lation but her illness has not been diagnosed. Fifty lockers are ready for use at Heppner high. Parts are mis sing for the other 25. Until they arrive, there will be three stu dents to a locker. Seventeen students have been nominated for the Quill and Scroll. Those accepted will be installed at a banquet Jan. 21. The future Business Leaders of I America started -to work Tues day on the program they will present at the P-TA meeting next Wednesday. This issue of the High'School Heisch will observe the Woodrow Wilson Centennial. The paper will contain three editorials on Woodrow Wilson. Thursday, Dec. 22, . the high school had their Christmas party with the exchange of gifts and some songs from the chorus and group singing. Before the party, James Mallon, football coach, presented football letters to 19 boys who earned them this year. Over the Christmas vacation the custodians scrubbed and waxed floors and washed win dows in both school buildings. The rest of the first six grades have moved out of the old build ing into the new grade school which has been completed ex cept for some final coats of paint and the black top on the parking area. The final inspection will be in the near future Mrs. Arolene Laird, lone has been employed to replace Mrs. Buelah Ogletree, grade teacher, who recently moved to Brookings, Oregon where her husband is em ployed. o O KI ZU CAMP FIRE The O Kl Zu Camp Fire girls and the O Kl Wa Nita Camp Fire girls went caroling Decem ber 19. First we sang in the mid dle of Main street and up at the hospital. Then we went around town. The people who took cars were Mrs. Jack Van Winkle, Elmer Schmidt, Mrs. Lincoln Nash, Mrs. Willard Blake. After caroling we had a party The O Ki Wa Nita group served refreshments and also put up the decorations. The O Ki Zu group planned the entertainment. The party stopped at 10:00 p. m.
