Tuesdays PALMER-PECK WEDDING HELD SUNDAY AT HEPPNER CHRISTIAN CHURCH An event of Sunday afternon, December 18 at the Heppner Christian church, was the wed ding of Miss Shirley Peck, daugh-1 ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Peck and Roger Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Palmer. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend Gene Robinson of La Grande. The bride, given in marriage bv her father, was gowned in white chantilly lace over satin, waltz length, and her finger tip veil was held in place with a Juliet cap of seed pearls. Her bouauet was of miniature red rose buds. The bride's veil, for merly worn bv her sister was "the something old," and something blue was the traditional Diue garter. Her handkerchief was once carried by her great grand mother and came over from Eng land. A penny minted in the year of her birth was placed in her shoe by her father. Miss Nancy Anderson, maid of honor, wore a princess style gown of moss green taffeta, and the bridesmaids, Miss Karen FrocK, Heppner and Miss Judy Thomp son, Pendleton wore similar gowns of spice pink taffeta. Miss Marjorie Peck sister of the bride and junior bridesmaid wore moss green taffeta. Best man was Lee palmer, 01 lone, cousin of the groom and the ushers were Carlisle and Robert Harrison of Cascade Locks, cou sins of the groom. Mrs. Peck, mother of the bride wore a suit of peacock green, with matching accessories ana an orchid corsage. Mrs. Palmer, mother of the groom wore a navy blue suit dress with pink accessories and orchid. Mrs. J. O. Turner, at the organ, played the wedding music and Miss Marilyn Munkers sang "Why Do I Love You", before the ceremonv and "Weddine Prayer at the conclusion of the service. Flowers used about the church were red roses and holly. At the reception which iol lowed in the church parlors, Mrs. Millard Nolan, aunt of tne oricie, cut the cake, assisted by Mrs SteDhen Thompson, rencueton Pouring at the tea table, were Mrs. Burton Peck, Lexington, grandmother of the bride and Mrs. Lawrence Palmer, Lexing ton, erandmother of the groom- Mrs. George Peck, aunt of the bride was at the punch bowl Miss Marv Ann Jensen had charge of the guest book and at the gift table were the Misses Alice Fave and Mary la Stewart. Lynda Borman, Joanne Keithley and Frances Slocum assisted about the rooms. For going away, the bride wore a blue suit with pink accessories and the rose buds from her bou quet. After a short wedding trip, the bride will complete her senior year at Heppner high school. The couple will be at home at Eight mile, where the groom is associ ated with his father in ranching. O. Turner Home The Bookworms held their an nual Christmas party Tuesday evening, December 13 at the home of Mrs. J. 0. Turner Christmas carols were sung with Mrs. Turner at the organ. Mrs. Jack Flug read tnnstmas poems and a movie was shown by Miss Leta Humphreys. Gifts were exchanged. Others present were Mrs. W. E. Hughes, Mrs. Floyd Jones, Mrs. Harrv Dinces. Mrs. Fred Parrish, Mrs. Cornett Green,- Mrs. Lucy Peterson, Miss Lulu Hager and Mrs. James Thomson. Extension Unit Meets At Weatherford Home The Lena Extension Unit met Wednesday afternoon of last week at the home of Mrs. W. W. Weatherford. Leaders for their nrolect of "Touchine up Furni ture", were Mrs. Randall Martin and Mrs. Raymond French. Members oacked boxes of can ned goods and other foods for the needy. Others oresent were Mrs. Ro bert Brindle, Mrs. Jerry Brosnan, Mrs. George Curnn, and Mrs. Gerald Swaggert. Refreshments were served. Work of Youth In Church Told At Soroptimist Club Mrs. Lester Boulden, spoke to the Soroptimist club Thursday noon at O'Donnell's, about the primary department and the work done with the small youngs ters in the Sunday school of the Methodist church. Alice Peterson, president of the Y. P. F. of the Episcopal church, also spoke to the club and told of their work, their money making projects and what they do at their meetings. Guests at the meeting were Rev. Lester Boulden, Janet Wright, Mrs. Boulden and Alice Peterson. Souci Rebekahs Hold Initiation Sans Souci Rebekah lodge No. 33 met in regular session Friday, December 16 at which time Holly Rebekah lodge No. 139 of Lexing ton were guests. Initiation of three new mem bers was the main business of the meeting. They were Mrs. Merle Cornelison, Mrs. Gladys Younsr and Mrs. Edith Crist. Thirty eight members and ten guests were present. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harry O'Donnell, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Fancher and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dowen Soroptimists Pack Christmas Boxes The annual Christmas party of the Soroptimist club was held Monday evening at the nome oi Mrs. Mary Van Stevens. During the evening the club members packed boxes of home made candy and cookies for the Veterans hospital in Walla Walla, a box for Fairview Home in Port land, boxes of a complete dinner for the elderly men who have no families and a box to send to Miss Margaret Gillis, former Mor row county health nurse who is now retired and in ill health. After the boxes were packed refreshments were served to the 14 members present. o Mrs. Wyman Hostess For Dessert-Bridge Unusual Bridge Hand Dealt Mrs. Sowell Mrs. William Sowell enter tained a foursome at bridge re cently at her home.
