Vernon were holiday dinner guests at the Steve Kincaid home They stayed over for the dance, Weekend guests at the Mike Hutchison home were her sister and family, the T .E. Aiems of Eugene and her brother Dale Whitaker and family of Burley, Idaho. The Stanley Cox family of Heppner were in for Thanksgiv ing with her family, the Lee Flemings and the Joe Mellors. Pete Christerson and family of Portland were weekend guests at the home of her mother, Mrs. Helen Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Holmes, Johnny Vestal and children and Maxine Jenkins and children were weekend guests with rela tives at Springfield. Donald Gilman was home for the weekend from college in La Grande. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cox and fam ily returned home from Dayton, Wash., where they were called by the death of her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Crocker and Roney spent the weekend in Walla Walla. Bob Damon of Canyon City was n town on business Saturday. The Wadelle family spent the weekend in Eugene, leaving Wednesday after school. Both are teachers here. Mr. and Mrs. Toots Dubuque and sons spent the weekend in Pen dleton where they attended the wedding of Joe Ben Stanaferd, a sawmill worker here. La Verne Matteson of Cecil, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Walker of Heppner and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kingman were Sunday dinner guests at the Matteson home. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan and two sons have returned home after a trip to California where they visited relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Johnson spen tthe weekend in Portland with their daughter and family, the Forrest Nolands. Ben Spain spent the past week at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with his wife and girls. (Too Late for Last Week) Ben Spain, Joe Whitaker and Tony Hutchison drove to Pendle ton Nov. 19 on business. Mrs. Olive Cox was surprised last week when her sister and husband from Watsonville, Calif., drove in to spend the week with them. Ansil nd Dick Martin were in John Day on business the 17th. Jim Crocker drove to John Day Nov. 18 on business for his gar age. The M. M. M. club met at the home of Mrs. Earl Barnard Nov. 17 and those present were Grace Stirritt, Wave Jackson, Ann Er hardt, Helen Brown, May Mc Willis, Delsia Sweek, Eva Mar line, Iris Kincaid, Olive Cox, Goldie Rounds, Ivy Barnard Pearl Martin, Ana Leslie, Clara Flow?r, and Martha Matteson. Final plans were made for the annual Thanksgiving dance sup per which was held Nov. 24. The high school put on their play before the dance. The next club meeting is to be Dec. 1 at Doris Capon's home. Pearl Martin was In John Day on business for the forestry of fice. Owen Smith took his two sons to John Day Nov. 19 for dental appointments. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kelly and two children drove to He"ppner Nov. 17 to have glasses fitted. The American Legion and auxiliary held their meetings on Nov. 17 with 18 persons present. Rush Crabtree drove to Hepp ner 10 days ago where he Is visit ing his niece and famly, the Harold Wrights. Fred A. Cox of Ordnance was a weekend visitor with friends and relatives. Ouida Cork was rushed to the hospital the middle of the week. Mrs. Henry Durst and Millie Wilson were reported on the sick list last week. Mrs. Carl Cox received word last Friday that her mother had passed away at Dayton, Wash. The Saint Ann's church of Monument held a bingo party Friday evening In the grange hall. Betty Vestle went to Everett, Wash., Nov. 13 for two weeks to take care of her mother who is ill. Melvin Rounds and Bob Leslie of Hoopa, Calif., were here for elk hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shanks were Sunday dinner guests at the Stirritt home. The girls are going to learn the Morse code, so that they can tell what the boys say when they tap out codes on the telegraph machine. Our first grade school basket ball game in December 1st Is with Echo, and we hope that we will have a successful team this year. Parents, Please be good sports and yell with us. Rhea Creek Ranch Now has TV Mr. Earl McKinney has now got his TV set in. He has built a foot tower on top of a hill that gets the reception, and TV in to the house with telephone wire. He Is running the TV on the telephone wire up and down Rhea Creek. Junior News Some of the juniors went away for Thanksgiving dinner. Alyce Mason went to Portland and so did Paul Miller. Julie Rietmann went to The Dalles. Leland Mc Kinney and Grace McCabe went to Walla Walla to see Leland's brother, Malcolm who is in the hospital. English III Our junior English class has been diagraming sentences for the last three weeks. It is a lot of fun finding where all the words go. Typing Class News The typing class is working hard to' improve their typing speed because we are supposed to have an average of 50 words a minute by Christmas time. In the daily work complete pages are typed with no errers. 4th and 5th Grade News Last week Judy Sherer was ab sent with the mumps. This week Arleta McCabe has them. The fifth grade has been writ ing to the Chamber of Commerce in cities of the northwest getting information regarding the cities and areas they are in. The Cooks Say The Cooks would like to ex press their Thanks to the home making class and to the 4th and 5th grades, for decorating the Cafetorium for Thanksgiving. Along the window wall the 4th and 5th grades made a scene of the first Thanksgiving. The pic ture was colorful and brought many compliments. The tables had brown, yellow and orange crepe paper, topped off with tur kevs made out of pine cones. On another wall the homemaking class put up a Grace. "For Health and Strength and Daily Food -we Praise Thy name, O Lord." There were cut out in old English lettering.
