The sewer system is a model installation and deserves special mention. The greatest improvement in automobiles during the last 20 years is the ball-joint front suspension on the new Ford car. The Court appointed Dr. J. W. Norene and Dr. R. R. Fast as the County Veterinarians in accord ance with Chapter 597, 1953 Ore gon Revised Statutes. The Court ordered the amount of $18,396.90 paid to Babler Bros, for furnishing rock and oiling the Paterson Ferry Road, this amount is to be paid from the Special Road Trust Fund. C, where he at tended a meeting of a commit tee studying labor relations in plants administered by the Ato mic Energy Commission. This is the second meeting of the committee he has attended as a member. SALEM EDITOR After 49 years of editorial and copy desk work George Put nam former editor and publisher of the Salem Capital Journal will move over from the copy desk to a rocking-chair job (he thinks) of writing a column. He was the subject of a book published by Bindfords and Mort in 1951 which told the story of his crusade for freedom of the press. Putnam sold the Journal to Bernard Mainwaring in 1952. Besides writing a column he will continue to contribute to the editorial columns of the Journal. Guests last Sunday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. A. D.
