The sewer system is a model installation and deserves special mention. The greatest improvement in automobiles during the last 20 years is the ball-joint front suspension on the new Ford car. This is the second meeting of the committee he has attended as a member. SALEM EDITOR After 49 years of editorial and copy desk work George Put nam former editor and publisher of the Salem Capital Journal will move over from the copy desk to a rocking-chair job (he thinks) of writing a column. He was the subject of a book published by Bindfords and Mort in 1951 which told the story of his crusade for freedom of the press. Putnam sold the Journal to Bernard Mainwaring in 1952.
