December 30, 1954 By Echo Palmateer Mr. and Mrs. James Botts gave a dinner Dec. 19 in honor of their son, Pvt. Richard Ray Botts who left for duty in the Hawaiian Is lands. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Botts of The Dalles; Mr. and Mrs. James Botts and child ren; Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Ellis and children and Henry Ellis of Ir rigon; Bert Botts of Ordnance; Ir vln Botts and Percy and Babe Rock of Alderdale, Wash.;Mr. and Mrs. Robert Botts and children of Hermiston; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Crowell and children of Morgan; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Botts and daughter of Lyle, Wash.; Floyd Chursoske, of Arlington; Miss La. Rose Churchill of Elgin and Mr. and Mrs. John Botts and children of lone. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Peterson and children were Portland visi tors this week. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ring and niece Linda Rowell and Mrs. Lena Neff spent Christmas in Portland with the Rings' daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Flet cher. Mr. and Mrs. Rod Kvistad of Beaverton are visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Peter son. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray made a trip to Pasco last week to visit their granddaughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Downing. The Downings are the parents of a boy, Mark' born Dec. 23. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Goodrich of Husum, Wash, are the grandparents. The Downings daughters Dianne and Teresa returned home with the Rays. Mrs. Lana Padberg was a guest of the Loyal Parkers in Heppner on Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. George Griffith and daughter, Charlotte, of Mor gan are on a trip east. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cole of Was co spent Christmas with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKinney. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sherer and children spent Christmas with his brother Glenn Sherer, in Echo. Cpl. John Jepsen received his separation from the army recent ly. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kirkelie of Tacoma spent Christmas with her parents,, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoitz. Guests at the Henry Peterson home over the Christmas holi days were their children and ! families, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Peter J son and children of The Dalles and Mr. and Mrs. John Skuzeskl ana sons or Portland. Mr. and Mrs. George H. Brews ter of Redmond and Mrs. Georgia Brewster of Portland were guests at the Verner Troedson home on i Christmas night. Other guests there were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nottage of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Troedson of Hermiston and Mr. and Mrs. Johan Troedson of lone. The Nottages showed pictures of their trip to Sweden. Sunday guests at the Verner Troedson home were Mr. and Mrs. Jody Morrison of Morgan; Mr. and Mrs. James Farley and daughter Tricia of Heppner; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Kimsey and son, Rusty of Hermiston. Guests at the Roger KIncaids Christmas were Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Bell and Charles Bell of Her miston; Miss Janet Bell of Parma, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kin caid of Pendleton; Mrs. Ruby Nichols and sons; Louis Padberg, and Mrs. Clara Kincaid. Judy and Alice Mason are visit, ing relatives in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yarnell and son, Alton, spent the holidays with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Yarnell in Van couver, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen and children and Mrs. Hattie Crabtree spent Christmas at the Archie Munkers home in Lexing ton. The La Verne Hams and the Vester Hams families spent Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Hams near Hard man. Dates to remember: Jan. 2 Services at Valby Luth eran church in Gooseberry in the morning. Jan. 4 City council meeting at 8 p. m. Jan. 5 Social Eastern Star meeting. x Jan. 6 Twelfth night ceremony at the Rietmann vacant lot on Main street at 5 p. m. Boys will gather Christmas trees and other greenery to be burned. Jan. & Installation of officers at Rebekah hall at 7:30 p. m. Jan. 6 Extension unit meeting in basement of Community church in afternoon on business and law. Officers of Willows grange are invited to Rhea Creek grange on Sunday, Jan. 2 where they will be installed. Jan 8 Pomona grange at Wil lows grange. All day. Mrs. Roger Allen and children have moved to Pendleton. Mr. afid Mrs. W. G. Seehafer and daughters Billy and Mildred of Bickleton, Wash., spent Christ mas with the Walter Corleys. Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Putnam and daughters of Burns are visit ing their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Heliker and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Heliker. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Heimbigner and children spent the holidays in Odessa, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree and children visited relatives in Salem during the holidays. Mrs. Ella Bleakman and Mrs. Elvira McDonald and children of Heppner spent Christmas with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Hershal Townsend. The Town sends spent Sunday with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. William Campbell of Hermiston. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoover and children of Pendleton spent Christmas with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lieuallen spent the weekend with his son, Ellwayne Lieuallen in Monmouth. Gene Rietmann, Roilo Crawfard and Helmuth Hermann spent Sunday skiing at Tollgate. Charles White of Portland spent the holidays with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon White. . Mr. and Mrs. Chester L. Ward are spending the holidays in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. John Jordan and son Ralph are visiting relatives in Portland. Mrs. Mabel Faris was a pa tient in the Heppner hospital last week. Mr. Faris came and took her to their home in Wenatchee, Wash. Henry Koebernick of Boise. Ida ho is here with Mrs. Koebernick. Slides on the Christmas story were shown at the Nazarcnc church Thursday evening Dec. 23 by Heinz Pruss. The Young People went caroling afterward and were served sandwiches at the McKay home afterward. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Carlson spent Christmas at Salem with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Darst. Their other children, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Carlson and daughters of Port land, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hope and daughter of Eugene also spent Christmas at the Darst's. Helmuth Hermann, student at the University of Oregon Dental School in Portland, spent the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Hermann. John Paisley of Los Angeles and student at Oregon State was a guest during the holidays at the Martin Bauernfeind home in Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crum and family spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. h. u Strahm in The Dalles. Mr. and Mrs. McBroom and Byron Crum are visiting in Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dobyns spent the holidays with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tad Hardesty in Roseburg. Mr. and Mrs. John Sanders and son and Mrs. Mattie Morgan of Portland visited relatives here over the weekend. Mrs. Fannie Griffith visited her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Haugen in Portland over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Palmateer and children spent Christmas with her mother, Mrs. Annie Healy on Butter creek. Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Martin and children spent this week with relatives in Roseburg. Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Crawford Jr. and daughters of Portland spent this week with her mother Mrs. Ida Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barnett and son Sammv are leaving Tuesday for Seattle to visit relatives.
