FHA Announces Interest Increase In Certain Loans Change in rates of interest for certain loans has been announ ced by the Farmers Home Admin istration. Eugene M. Denney, supervisor for Baker, Union, Wallowa, Uma tilla, Morrow and Grant counties, said the interest rates for water facility loans for irrigation sys tems and farmstead water sup plies has been changed from 3 per cent to 4'i per cent ir an num. In addition, direct and insur ance mortgage farm ownership loans have been increased from 4 to 4 1 2 per cent. Denney said1 the higher rates on the insur-1 ance mortgage loan program ! were needed to attract lenders to the program who complained tluv old rates were too low to make the program worth while. I No change will be made in thej chattel loans for livestock, ma chinery and operating expenses,1 and emergency annual loans, which will remain at 5 per cent. ' The La Grande office is lo-1 cated in Room 202 of the New Foley Building, and is open week days Monday through Friday. However. Friday is set aside as Mr. Denney's regular office day for interviewing applicants and present borrowers. n Name Change Told by Local Truck Line Port land -Pendleton Motor Transportation company, a motor freight line which has served Portland and northeast Oregon points since 1932, will change its name to Sites Freight lines effec tive October 1, according to Her man Sites, president. Principal reason for the change is that the line has greatly ex-: panded the number of points served since its establishment,' when Portland and Pendleton' were the only termini, Sites said. The line now operates into 110 1 communities in northeast Oregon and southeast Washington. There has also been confusion between the name of Portland Pendleton and another line oper ating into eastern Oregon, he jointed out.
