Bailey wish to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Colleen Rae to Harvey D. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Whitmer Wright of Heppner, on Sunday afternoon, October 10 at 3:00 p. m. in the Heppner Metho dist church. All friends and relatives are invited to the wedding. Van Horn on Tuesday September 14 Members present were Bernice Lott, Edna Munkers, Nellie Pal mer, Faye Munkers, Cleo Van Winkle, Maxine Cox, Hortense Martin, Gloria Dolvin, Nellie Johnson, Frances McMillan, Mae McCall, Frances Schrage, Ger trude Van Horn, Leila Palmer, Lee Wagonblast, and Pearl De vin. Mrs. Anderson was a guest. Frances Schrage gave an In teresting talk on what to do to improve lawns this time of year. Cleo Van Winkle drew the door prize consisting of four hand painted dish towels. Following the meeting refresh ments were served by the host ess. o Blakney Home Scene Of Pinochle Party Mrs. Philip Blakney was host ess at a pinochle party at her home on Thursday evening. Refreshments were served at the end of the evening to Mes dames La Verne Van Marter, Wil liam Labhart, Bradley Fancher, Pat O'Brien, Marshall Lovgren, Fred Sanders and Del Jordan. High score was held by Mrs. Lovgren, Mrs. O'Brien was second and Mrs. Sanders received a guest gift in honor of her birth day. -O Dodson's Given Anniversary Party Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ruggles, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Farra and Harley Anderson spent last weekend at Summerville, north of La Grande where they gave a surprise 25th wedding anniversary party for Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Dodson. The Dodson's were formerly photo graphers here, leaving Heppner about two and one-half years ago. Anglican Congress At their regular missionary meeting on Monday night, the women's auxiliary of the Episco pal church heard Rev. John R. Reeves speak on the Worldwide Anglican Congress which he at tended in Minneapolis. Key personalities interestingly described by Mr. Reeves were the Archbishop of Canterbury and Bishop Sherrell of the United States. Mr. Reeves stated that no word has been received from those rep resenting the Episcopal church in Red China since the Korean war and they are presumed to be either in concentration camps or dead. Refreshments were served at the close of the program by Mrs. Jos. J. Nys and Mrs. Grace Nick erson. Mrs. P. W. Mahoney was program chairman and intro duced the speaker. o Bridal Shower Given For Colleen Bailey Mrs. Madge Bryant, Mrs. Cor net Green and Mrs. C. W. Johnson were hostesses September 22nd at a bridal shower in honor of Miss Colleen Bailey, whose mar riage to Mr. Harvey Wright will be an event of October 10th. Thirty five guests- were present. Mrs. Lucy Peterson sang during the evening. Mrs. Green Hostess To Bridge Party Mrs. Cornet Green was hostess on Friday evening to a group of bridge players. Guests were Mrs. Howard Bryant, Mrs. Paul Jones, Mrs. W. L. Cox. Mrs. Frank Con nor, Mrs. Herman Green, Mrs. Floyd Jones and Mrs. L. E. Dick. Mrs. Bryant received high score and Mrs. Paul Jones second. HOUSEWARMING SURPRISES BOARDMAN Some seventy- five friends gathered at the Edd Kunze home Monday evening at a house warming for Mr. and Mrs Ldd Kunze surprising them in their new home. The couple was presented with a floor lamp, two table lamps, and two end tables as gifts from the Boardman com munity. Mrs. Leonard Bedord, Mrs. Nathan Thorpe and Miss Faye Anderson served cookies and coffee. S. met Wednesday evening, September 22nd., at lone for a joint banquet and business meeting. The banquet was ser ved by the American Legion Aux iliary of lone. Ruby Becket, Worthy Matron of the Heppner Chapter and Ama bel McMillan, Worthy Matron of the lone Chapter welcomed visit ing dignitaries. Following the business meet ing, refreshments were served by the lone Chapter, O. E. S. o lone Sorority Has Party For Rushees The Beta Omega chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at the Legion hall Sept. 23 and enter tained the "Rushees" with a kid die party. All were dressed as kids and the most outstanding costumes were those of Mrs. Gordon White and Mrs. Donald Peterson. Games such as New Orleans and carry ing the beans were played. Re freshments of cookies and cocoa were served. Mrs. Loren Leathers and Mrs. William Snow attended the State Council meeting of Epsilon Sig ma Alpha in Portland Sept. 24 and 25. o Officers Elected By Men's Church Group The CMF met in the pastor's study at the Christian church, Monday evening to elect officers and make plans for the coming year. Officers chosen were Marcel Jones, president; Robert Walker, vice president and Clem Stock ard, secretary-treasurer. The Heppner group will enter tain the men of' the district on November 15. You are cordially invited to worship with us. 4-H Leaders Make Plans for Annual, Achievement Party Last week Morrow County 4-H club leaders on the 4-H achieve ment party committee, including Mrs. Lewis Wetzel, chairman, of Lexington; Bernard Doherty and Mrs. Earle Kendall of Heppner; made plans and recommenda tions for the annual 4-H achieve ment party which will be held on November 6. Approving the action of this committee, a Morrow County 4-H Club Council meeting Thursday evening at the 4-H Clubhouse an nounced that a potluck supper would proceed the party begin ning at 6:30 p. m. It will be held at the Fair Pavilion at Heppner changing its regular annual date from the first Friday to the first Saturday night in No vember.
