Delbert Anson, mana ger of the sale, reports. Volume of cattle consigned in usual preholiday decline brought a figure identical to that of a year ago, 212, which compared with 380 consigned the previous Friday. Also consigned Friday were 75 hogs compared with 74 a year ago and 48 a week ago, 13 sheep compared with 84 and 38,' and two horses. Prices were steady to somewhat lower, except for harder finish cows, canner- cutters up 20c cwt. to a top of, $10.80. Packers, Yakima valley potato feeders and area farmer s contri buted to a broad and brisk de mand which would have taken hundreds more cattle, Anson said. Grain fed heifers and steers, in short supply, continue in demand. Feedlot buyers are due weekly, seeking good quality feeder. lambs over 70 lbs. and fat lambs over 90 lbs. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray spent a few days last week with their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Stockard in the mountains. Bill Cochran of Portland is visit ing his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Bristow. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wilson spent the Fourth holiday at Post Falls, Idaho visiting relatives. Mrs. Mary Titterington of Mar shall, Missouri is visiting at tin home of her daughter and family Mr. and Mrs Floyd Sayers. Tht Sayers went to Portland Sunday to meet her and bring her to Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parrish were in Portland over the holiday weekend.
