Wp elected officers, they are HUNT EXPENSIVE Delmar Rounds, Monument, pleaded guilty Monday In justice of the peace J. O. Hager's court to a charge of hunting and killing a prbtectedgame animal, a cow elk. The arrest was made prior j to the close of the elk season by, state police. I Rounds was fined $250 and met at O'Donnell's cafe. During their meetinsr two class presidents JoAnn Keithley, persident; Vir ginia Gonty, vice president; Vir ginia Andrescn, secretary and re porter, Barbara Warren, song and reception leader. We also talked about having a luncheon. Janice Beamer, reporter. o 4-H News of the 7th and 8th grades, Janice Beamer and Laurel Alston told costs and given a suspended 6 months Jail sentence. the club about the Hallowe'en party which the Soroptimists gave. They told the members luncheon for our mothers. about the opinions of the stu dents as well as their own, so that the Soroptimists would have an idea what plans to have for next yecr. The next meeting will be No vember 22. NEWS OF THE Heppner Schools FIRST AND SECOND GRADE Membership in the first and second grade room has come back to its original number of 25 since Carolyn Douning transferred from the Pilot Rock school Tuesday. She occupies the seat left vacant recently by Billy Todd. John Cleveland has been out this week because of illness. His absence breaks the perfect attend ance record transported children in the two second grade rooms had built up. They had gone five weeks without an absence. Bobby Hager was out Tuesday and Steven Applegate Friday. Tommy Gonty was gone the first of the week. He had accom- piece of wood, which interested us children very much. Richard has new glasses that look very nice on him. Karen has had her eyes tested and Is going to get glasses next week. We have started a very interest ing reading book called "Singing Wheels" and are using the com panion workbook for jt. The American Hearing Society has given us some very nice pos ters saying that there are 15,000, 000 people that have trouble hear ing. They tell us how to care for our ears so that we are less likely to have hearing trouble. The first and second graders made a turkey farm during art period Friday. They used the buildings and fences of their ranch set, but shaped the turkeys from plastic clay. Some of the second grade girls' worked on cut outs of Pilgrims going to church. We haven't stopped bringing money yet, and we accept any amount big or small from any one. We say the pledge to the flag every morning. We had a field trip and drew pictures that showed things of autumn. We learn to sing out of music books. We are singing Indian songs this week. Cherylc Hartman was sick this week. David Grant had his birth day party at school. We will open our store Mon day. Ginger and Bill are the store keepers. Marce Fast reporter. FOURTH GRADE NEWS We have made a tight rope of figure men on the black board. To walk the tight rope, we mul tiply the figure men by 2's, 3's and 4's. We have also made a mural on which we have drawn many tur keys. Charles drew a wonderful pig and Wayne started us out by helping make the background and he also drew a very good tree. We also have some nice horses. Wayne and Neal are making a mural by themselves.
