SURE TO OTE! audien s 40th Anniversary Celebrated in lone By Ernest Helikers Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Heliker celebrated their 40th wedding an niversary Saturday when around 20 friends surprised them that evening. Slides were shown and refreshments were served. A large cake with the numbers 40 on it was served. They received many lovely gifts and long dist ant telephone calls. The Helikers were married in Lexington Oct. 26, 191.2 and lived there until 1915 when they moved to this mm. munity. They lived on the ranch until 1945 when they moved to lone. They have two children, Mrs. Jerry (Harriet) Bolman of San Jose and Donald of lone. -o Delta Kappa Gamma Initiates Eight The Iota Chapter of Delta Kap pa Gamma held its initiatory meeting at the Presbyterian Church, Pendleton October 25. Mrs. Richard Neuberger. mem ber of the Oregon State House of Representatives, gave an en lightening and entertaining ad dress on State Educational Legis lation and Legislators.-'The Loy alty Oath Bill was vicious in sing ling out teachers to be targets of slander," said Mrs. Neubergre. Miss Edna Bloom, Alpha Chap ter of Klamath Falls, now teach ing at Lexington, was a guest. Those attending from this area were Miss Galena Sandwick. Coming Events Birthdays Honored At Episcopal Auxiliary At All Saints Episcopal Auxil iary meeting Thursday afternoon October 23, Mrs. Ture Peterson chose Dorothy Thompson's article "There is a Time" for discussion during the program period. At the social meeting there was a surprise birthday party honor ing Mrs. R. B. Rice and Mrs. W. O. Bayless. There was a birthday cake with one candle and a fruit cake as well. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. W. E. Hughes and Mrs. Ambrose Chapin. The tea tables were centered with roses on a white damask cloth. Plans were discussed for re decorating the parish house kit chen in colors. Final plans were made for the dinner to be given the evening of Nov. 8. Mrs. Floyd Adams is to be contacted regarding this. The Rt. Rev. Lane W. Barton, is to be in Heppner November 9 for con firmation services. o Church Teachers And Officers Meet The Teachers and Officers of the Christian church met at the parsonage on Tuesday evening. Plans were made for an attend ance contest to run during the months of November, December and January. Committees for the Halloween party were appointed. Also the Christmas program.
