Heppner Gazette Times, Thursday, October 23, 1952 Page 4 Lex Has Joint Rebekah Meet By Delpha Jones Thursday night October 16 was the date chosen by the State President of the Rebekah Lodges for the joint meeting held in Lexington with the Bunch Grass Lodge of lone as guests. The meeting was called to order in the usual order by the Noble Grand of the Holly Lodge, Maxine Cox in the chair. After the usua opening procedures and business of the evening the meeting was turned over to Bunch Grass who also held their regular meeting, as this date was also the date of their regular meeting. Vice Grand Vida Heliker filled the chair in the absence of their Noble Grand Lorrain Ball who was ill. Lexington Holly Lodge put on the draping of the charter for our departed members at this time. Also at the meeting the State President Mrs. Olive Ramey gave a most interesting and instructive talk concerning our lodges and also told us that there are to be one year terms now instead of 6 months as has been the habit In the past. The lone ladies then gave a most clever skit called at the "Rummage Sale". This was very cleverly done and at the finish presented the President with a gift from the Bunch Grass and Holly Lodges. The following lad ies taking part: Mrs. Elaine Reit- mann. Mrs. Marravenne White and Mrs. Ring, pianist Mrs. Drake. Immediately following this the lodge was closed in regular form. Lovely refreshments were served in the kitchen and dining room consisting of jello and cake and coffee. The tables were very beautifully decorated for this by members of the lodge. Also pre sent were several Heppner ladies. Joe Way who is stationed in Alaska with the Navy, returned home Sunday because of the Ill ness of his mother Mrs. Dan Way. The Lexington P-TA held their regular meeting at 8 p. m. in the school auditorium last Tuesday evening with a fine crowd in attendance. Proceeding the meet ing there was an interesting pro gram which consisted of piano and accordian solos, by Betty Messenger, two vocal solos by Mrs. Hatfield and a piano solo by Mrs. Bates. Following this, the meeting was called to order by the president Mrs. Robert David son. After an interesting meeting at which time the names of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Padberg were added to the names of the finance committee, the meeting ad journed. Later refreshments were served in the lunch room from beautifully decorated tables car rying out the hallowe'en theme. Those serving on the committee were Mrs. Art Hunt and Mrs. T. E. Messenger. Mrs, Howard Adams and son Howard were in Heppner Thurs day where Howard consulted a physician concerning an injury to his lip while playing football. Mrs. Dean Hunt and Mrs. Jim Bloodworth were among the La Grande visitors one day last week. Mrs. A. F. Majeske had as her guest last week Mrs. Olive Ramey State President of the Rebekah Assembly. She also visited there one day preceeding this visit Dinner guests at the Majeske home at this time was Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McMillan. Following the meeting in Heppner, Mrs. Ma- jeska and her daughter Mrs. Ans ted were hostesses to a waffle feed at their home. Those attend ing were: Annie Keene, Frye Munkers, Thelma Smethurst, Mil died Davidson, Delpha Jones, Jo Irvin and Florence McMillan Earl Miller who is attending school in Monmouth spent the weekend with his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones, and while here enjoyed a little hunt ing. Jo Irvin and Audrey Ansted were Hermiston visitors last Thursday. Max Breeding who has been on a trip to Kansas wttn Mr. ana Mrs. Don Grant has returned to his home, and the small children of Mr. and Mrs. Grant who have been visiting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. 0. G. Breeding have returned to their home in Yam hill. Mrs. John Edwards who has been staying at the home of her sister Mrs. Bill Van Winkle Jr. and helping with the new arrival at that place, has returned to her home Fphrata, Washington. Charles Padberg who has seen active duty in Korea and has just received his honorable discharge is at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Oris Padberg in Lexington.
