Page 6 Cradle Shower Held in Lexington By Delpha Jones Tin1 George Steaguli home was the scone of a lovely cradle show er honoring Mrs. Howard Crowell i nee June Steagain insi inuis day afternoon. ( lames wore played with seve ral winning prizes, and after her many lovely gifts were opened, .delirious refreshments were ser ved. The cake was a beautiful creation being a four layer with lovely decorations and a birds nest adorning the top with a bird peirhed on it. This was made and decorated bv Lvnn Wright. Out of town guests were Mrs. Kdwina HicheUH-rfer of The Dal les, Mrs. George Griffith, Kay Crowell, Dolores Tony Crowell, Klise liauernfeind of Morgan and Irene St ea gal I and Mrs. Argo bright, grandmother and aunt of the honoree of Spray, and De lores Nelson of Washington who is visiting her parents, the Cro wells of Morgan. Mrs. Ina U. Niekols is a pa tient in the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner, but at pre sent is reported much improved. Kay McAllister who was called there by the ill ness of his son who had been in jured in a car accident. He re ports his son, Welcome much im proved. His wife is also there with him. They make their home in Mt. Carmel Pennsyl vania. Miss Dona Barnett and Mrs. Trina Parker left Tuesday morn ing on their return trip to their summer home at Camp Sherman. They have been attending to business matters here for several days. News was received here last week of the death of Mrs. Don Hatfield's Mother, Mrs. Clarence R. Burgett in Enterprise Oregon. Funeral services were held Mon day. Mrs. Hatfield had been home only a few days from En terprise where she had been help ing with the care of the mother who had been in a hospital there, when the word came. Mrs. Hermann Wallace and sons returned to Ephrata after a weeks visit at the Wihlon home. Willie Collins and Wayne Mil ler have gone to Spray where they will be employed. They have been working in Lexington the last two weeks. The Eldon Padberg home was the scene of a lovely pink and blue shower honoring Mrs. Wil liam Van Winkle Jr. last Friday night. The town of Lexington was ex cited a bit Monday afternoon when a large black smoke ap. peared on the horizon. Many cars started to find the cause and it was found to be a stubble and wheat fire at the M. V. Nolan ranch. However, after much help by those going out the fire was soon squelched after burning only a few acres of wheat and the rest stubble. Their farming equip ment had to be moved but there no further damage than the wheat. Quite a number of citi zens went to the aid of Mr. Nolan. Mrs. C. C. Jones and family and Joan Breeding motored to Echo Monday morning where they met Miss Beverley Lovelace and sis ter Barbara Garnett nieces of Mr. Jones, who will visit here a week. They live in La Grande. Mrs. Arthur Hunt and daugh ter Shirley and Mrs. Frances Mc Millan were Pendleton visitors one day last week. Buster Padberg of the U. S. Army is visiting his parents the W. H. Padbergs. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Buchanan of Seattle were weekend visitors at the Charlie Buchanan home. Anderegg and daughter Barbara left Saturday evening for Oregon City,- from there they will be joined by Mrs. Anderegg's daughter-in-law, Mrs. James Garrivson and daughter for a trip into California for a visit with relatives for two weeks. The first stop will be with Mrs. Ander eggs mother, Mrs. Barbara Snell, Sacramento; then on to San Fran cisco to spend a couple of days with a sister. Barbara and Kurt Gantenbein returned home Monday from a weeks vacation with their uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hame burg, Estacada. sisting in the harvest. He recently received his honorable discharge for the U. S. Coast Guard at Astoria. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Johnson were Spokane visitors over the week end. Robert Williamson who is em ployed at the Rosewall motors in Heppner and recently from La Grande was visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones and the W. E. McMil lans one night last week. Mr. and Mrs. Will Heath, of White Bird, Idaho stopped for a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Nickerson last week on their way to The Dalles to see Mr. Heath's mother. Mrs. Heath afid Mr. Nickerson are sister and brother. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kunze and two children, Burbank, Wash., were Sunday guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and MrsTEdd Kunze. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Flock of Portland have purchased the C. J. Cram farm south of town and are to take possession as soon as the Crams can vacate. Weekend guests at the Arnin Hug home was Hug's .brother-in-law and sister Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beltman and daughter of Port land. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Conyers were badly injured in a car wreck Saturday evening west of Irrigon when their car colided with a car driven by Harold Curryer of Spo kane. Both Mr. and Mrs. Conyers are in the St Anthonys hospital, Pendleton, with leg injuries and Mr. Conyers chest injury. Mrs. Currver and a six yedr old son was killed in the accident. Mr. Curryer and daughter are also in the hospital.
