Cars clearly have the edge

The town of Lexington was ex

when a large black smoke ap.
peared on the horizon. Many
cars started to find the cause and
it was found to be a stubble and
wheat fire at the M. V. Nolan
ranch. However, after much help
by those going out the fire was
soon squelched after burning only
a few acres of wheat and the rest
stubble. Their farming equip
ment had to be moved but there
no further damage than the
wheat. Quite a number of citi
zens went to the aid of Mr. Nolan.

very sportsmanlike reason why
he should show courtesy to the
weaker pedestrian. But if a
driver fails to show that cour
tesy, pedestrians with good
sense keep out of hit way.
What chance has a 150-pound
pedestrian, walking at 3 or 4
miles per hour, against a 8,000
pound car at even the low speed
of 20 miles per hour!
The law gives pedestrians the
right-of-way. Common sense
often takes it away from them.
