We showed our scarfs that we have made and sewed a button on a piece of material Mrs. Charles Monagle showed us some movies and refreshments were served. Later some of us danced and did acrobatics. Visitors were Mrs. Charles Mon agle and Mrs. Marie Martin. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Jerry Brosnan. The show, televised In New York City, will salute 4-H clubs. The young sters were chosen for the New York appearance after perform ing at National 4-H Club Congress last year in Chicago. The big event of the year In Oregon, is the State Agricultural Conference to be held at Oregon State College on March 27, 28 and 29. The conference is expected to attract the largest crowd of farm men and women and business men ever assembled on the state college campus. Committees are planning on an attendance of at least 1,000. Paul V. Maris, the man who sparkplugged the 1924 agricul tural conference while director of the Oregon extension service, will be one of three featured speakers at the conference. Maris re turned recently from an economic cooperation administration as signment in Europe and will leave soon after his Corvallis ap pearance on an agricultural mis sion to Iran. Theme of his ap pearance will be built around "Advantages of Planning Togeth. er". Eleven committees, on various agricultural commodities in Ore gon, have been working for two years. Their reports and recom mendations will be presented at the conference. Veterans Property Tax Exemption Deadline April 1 uisaoied veterans and war widows were warned today that April 1 is the last day on which they may apply for a $1500 pro perty tax exemption provided by state law. Application is made to the county assessor in the county where the property is located. The Oregon Department of Vet. erans' Affairs said the special tax exemption on homes or personal property is available to the fol lowing persons: 1. Any war veteran with a 40 percent disability or more, as cer tified by the Veterans Adminis tration or a branch of the armed forces. The veteran must obtain this statement from the Portland VA regional office, or from the branch of service from which he was retired, and submit it to the county assessor when he ap plies for the tax exemption. 2. The unremarried widow of a war veteran. She must submit proof of the husband's military service and copies of the marriage and death certificates. 3. Any union veteran of the Mexican, Civil or Indian wars. 4. Any war veteran who, lack ing a disability rating from the VA or the armed forces, submits a certified statement from his physician and the county health officer that he is' 40 percent dis abled. The veteran in this cate gory is not entitled to the exemp tion if his gross income in the last calendar year exceeded $2500. The applicant must also submit proof that the property is re corded in his name. All evi dence supporting his claim must be filed before the April 1 dead line. The tax exemption applies to the person's homestead that is, the property he ownes and on which he resides or to his per sonal property. o Mr. and Mrs. Bill Collins were in Portland over the weekend.
