MEET AT Odd Fellowi' Hall at Heppner, every third Saturday of each month. G. W. Kha, Adj. G. W. Smith, Com. THURSDAY, DEC. 17, 1903. The Times is just in receipt of an invitation to be present at the seventh annual convention of the National Livestock association and the thirty ninth annual convention of the National Woolgrowera as sociation, which will be held in Portland from January 11, to 15, 1904. A very large delegation from nearly every state in the union is expected to be in atten dance at these conventions, which it 'v belived will be the most im portant ever held by these associ ations. A number of able papers will be read and discussed. It now looks very favorable that the building of the railroad from Heppner to the Willow creek coal mines will not be much longer defferred. If expert Schumann's report is fovorable, and there is no room to doubt that it will be, the matter of extending the road will be taken up soon after th holidays, or upon Mr. Mohler's return from the east. There ia no question but the O. R. & N. wants the . mines for the reason of a cheaper supply of fuel, and in case that company does not buy the mines outright it will at least make satisfactory terms with and materially assist the Heppner Railroad & Coal Company to build the road and operate the mines. It is now very certain that work on the construction of the road will be commenced in the early spring. Be Quick. Mot minute should be lost when chi.d shows symptoms of the croup. C'mmberlain's Cough Remedy given as soon as the child becomes horse, or even after the croupy cough apptars, will prevent the attack. It never fails, and is pleasant to take.
