ADMIRAL SCHLEY ENDORSES PERUNA Pe-ru-na Drug: Co., Columbus, Ohio: Gentlemen "I can cheerfully say that Mrs. Schley has taken Pe-ru-na and I believe with good effect." W. S. SCHLEY, Washington. D. C. ADMIRAL SCHLEY, one of the foremost WHAT 80ME P08TMEN Da notable heroes ol the nineteenth century. A name that startles terror in the heart of every Spaniard. A man of steady nerve, clear head, undaunted courage and prompt decision. Approached by a friend recently, his opinion was asked as to the efficacy of Peruiia, the national catarrh remedy. Without the slight est hesitation he gave this remedy his endorse ment. It appeared on later conversation that Peruna has been used in his family, where it is a favorite remedy, Such endorsements serve to indicate the wonderful hold that Peruna has upon the minds of the American people. It is out of the ques tion that so great ana iamous a man as Ad miral Schley could have any other reason for giving nis endorsement to reruna than his positive conviction that the remedy is all that he says it is. The fact is that Peruna has overcome all op position and has won its way to the hearts of the people. , The natural timidity which so many people have felt about giving endorse ment to any remedy is giving way. Gratitude and a desire to help others has inspired thous ands of people to give public testimonials for Peruna who heretofore would not have con sented to such publicity. Never before in the annals of medicine has it happened that so many men of national and international reputation have been willing to give unqualified and public endorsements to a proprietary remedy. No amount of advertis ing could have accomplished such a result. Peruna has won on its own merits. Peruna cures catarrh of whatever phase or location in the human body. That is why it receives so many notable and unique endorsements. Address The Peruna Drug Manufacturing Co., Columbus, Ohio, for-free literature on catarrh. 8 PORT IN NEWFOUNDLAND. It Is pleasant to know that, especially lu the many fine streams of the western shore, the num ber of llsh are of late years steadily Increasing. 1 letter preservation will doubtless continue to Improve tho fishery. Unlike tho numerous strenms of New Ilrunswlck nnd Quebec, which nre nil leased, the rivers here are free and open to nil comers. The first rod holds possesion that Is tho rule of the river. However widely education may have spread there are huudreds pf postmen who, every working day of their lives, are asked to read aloud for the recipi ents the letters that these same post men have delivered. A postman In the North Kldlng of Yorkshire assured the present writer that one really extensive and prosperous farmer on bis round reg ularly paid him a penny each for read ing aloud the letters delivered. And In hundreds of cases the woman re cipient will appeal to the postman to do the reading, alleging that her eyesight Is defective and that her spectacles are mislaid or broken. The postman referred to above had, too, many records of strange questions put to him. One of the commonest of these is: "Are there any mourning stamps to go with black-edged paper and envelopes?" Another question of the same kind deals with "wedding stamps." It Is quite common, In the case of country gentlemen writing to old servants, for the envelope to bear tho direction: "Will Mr. , the post man, kindly rend the Inclosed to the addressee, who Is unable to read or write?" The writer has spoken to post men, wins during long periods, have regularly earned tips by following such directions. One of the commonest happenings ns regards nil post men Is for some man or woman g nirally a lodger, to Inter cept them and say, "Do not deliver any letters nddressed to me except "Into my own hand; my landlady regularly steams open my letters." Of course, all thnt the postman can do Is to ad vise the person to get a reliable address or landlady. And the opinion Is con stantly Itclng nsked of the Loudon postman ns to whether envelopes, pro duced for his Inspection, have not been tnmicred with. OLD SORES, ULCERS, ABSCESSES The best evidence of ia bad condition of the blood and unhealthy 6tate of the system, is an old festering sore, running nicer, or abscess. They show Ike bodily impurities are not passing out through the proper channels, but are left in the system to clog and poison the blood. So thoroughly does the poison permeate the system that every little scratch, cut or bruise inflames and festers. Everything about an old sore or ulcer suggests disease. They affect the general health, they require constant attention, and are a source of anxiety and trouble all the time, and in some cases highly offen sive. There is danger, too, of these - places becoming cancerous if not treated promptly and in the right way. Washes, salves and oi ntments are good for external aise, but they can't stop the discharge or change the condition of .the blood, and for this reason the sore never heals permanently. Not until the blood is purged or impurities and the system cleansed of all harmful substances should the ulcer heal, or the effect upon the sys tem might prove disastrous. S.S. S. goes into the circulation and searches out and removes the cause of the old sore and invigorates and builds up the polluted, sluggish blood again, and as the poisonous matter is driven from the system the sore begins to heal, new flesh forms and the place is soon covered over with fresh skin and the sore is gone for all time. Where the constitution li debilitated from the effects of chronic sores, ulcers, abscesses, carbuncles, boils or other severe skin eruptions, S. S. S. will build it up again and stimulate and strengthen all parts of the system. S. S. S. contains no strong minerals, but is guaran teed entirely vegetable. It is unequaled as a Blood Purifier and invigorating tonic. Do not depend upon local remedies alone.' Get vour blood right, and as it forces out the poison the sore must heal, because nothing is left in the system for it to feed upon.
