The road waa not on the original map submitted by state engineer. While president ol the Senate Mr. Ritner killed the "1935 Fair Bill", which would have taxed the entira atate $3,000,000 for the benefit of Portland. Mr. Rit ner, as a legislator, Introduced the following bills and secured their passage: placing of Eastern Oregon in a separate public serv. ice district; re districting the state in legislative districts and giving Eastern Oregon two addi tional representatives; appropri ation of $10,000 for investigatior of the Umatilla Rapids project; establishment of a rotation crop experiment station in Umatilla Summer County; removal of state grain grading department from the ju risdiction of the date market a gent; establishment of an addi tional normal school in Eastern Oregon; securing ah additional wing at the Eastern Oregon State Uoopital in Pendleton; appropri ation ol fund to aid farmers of the frozen out district to pur chase seed Whest. He helped draft the state In come tax bill and in 1922 acting with state secretary Kozer as members of the state tax com missijn, reduced the state tax levy about $750,000. Altogether, He Introcuced but few bills butse curad prssage of over 90 per cent of thoae introduced. Mr. Ritner, the son of pioneer parents, was educated in Pendle ton public schools and at Weston Normal. lie taught school, was a cub reporter and worked in the old Pendleton Savings Bank for ten years. In 1908 he gave up banking ferfarming and has been raising wheat ever since. He waa vice president and business man ager of the Round Up from its Inception until 1918, when be re signed to go to Franca during the war. I NO TWO ALIKE I BERT MASON Beautiful Wedding at lone Sunday Afternoon A beautiful wedding was solem nized Sunday afternoon at ' three at the home of M '. and Mrs. Paul G. Balsiger when their youngest daughter, Helen, married Mr. Allan Learned, son of Mr. and Mrs Samuel Learned of Hadlock Wash. Two violin solos, "I Love You Truly" and "At Dawning," were played by Mr. Laurence Beach preceding the ceremony. The wedding warch was played by Mias Gladys Lundell. The bridal paity consisting of little Helen Lundell as ring bear er, Miss Elva Balsiger, cousin of the bride, as maid of honor, and the bride on the arm of her fath er, marched into the living room to a large white altar where the groom with his brother, Samuel Learned as best man, were wait ing to receive the bride. Rev. W. W. Head, pastor of the Congregational cburcb, per formed the double ring ceremony The bride was gowned in white satin with long veil of silk m. b oidered Tulle and held in place 'by orange blossom wreath itod carriid ophelia roses and weel P1" The maid of honor wore pals blue blue georgette crepe acd carried piik tulips. The little ring bearer was fairy like in pink organdy and carried the rings on a white silk pillow. The a room wore the conven- ti0us! black. After the ceremony a three course dinner was served to 25 immediate relatives. The living room was decorated in green and white and brides roses; the dining roomin pink and pink tulips; the reception hall in yellow ana yeiiow oinuuna. Mr. and Mrs. Learned left im mediately for Seattle. Waab.. where they will reside. Mrs. Learned is a senior at the Uni versity of Washington, class of '28, and Mr. Learned is a gradu ate of U. ofW., class of '27. The out of town guests were Mr. Samnel Learned. Sr., Mra. Beye Wilson, Miss Isabel Learn ed and Samuel Learned, Jr., of Hanlock, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Koehring of Seattle, Wash. ; Mrs. Rex Hikok of Portland, Or ; Elva and Wendell Balsiger of Eugene, Ore.
