The Republican National Committee baa created a Woman's Dirt Ion of that organisation, with Mrs John Glover South, of Kentucky, at its bead. Blie succeeds Mrs. MedlU McC'ormlck, who was unable to serve actively because of 111 health. Mrs. South Is a daughter of the late Governor and 8enator, W. 0. Bradley. She has been active In the suffrage movement and Is well known throughout the country. The Woman's Division has three Vice Chairmen. Miss Mary Garrett Hay. of New York; Mrs. Margaret Hill McCarter, of Kansas, and Mrs. Josephine Corliss Preston, Washington state. An executive commit tee of ten was also created as follows: Miss Hay, chairman; Mrs. Thomas H. Carter, Montana; Mrs. McCarter; Mrs. Preston; Mrs. Flor ence Collins Porter. California; Mrs. Raymond Robins, Illinois; Mrs. i M WILL SPEND I An analysis of the 1284,000 bud get to be raised In Oregon Rescue Week, May 1 to 10 to provide fur the work laid out by the advisory boards In convention In Portland, March 17, shows that every dollar of the fund Is to be spent in Oregon In one or the other of the seventeen activities that mark the service given by the army to the state. 1 Following the hvar the demands for service coming into the Salvation Army headquarters, forced the ex-! panslon of Its efforts in. the field and made it imperative that the army ; who are failures and will provde a dub Iwith gymnasium and library fea tures, baths and other conveniences that will be absolutely free to the stranger and the man down on his luck. It will also be the state head quarters for other activities, such as the employment bureau, also abso lutely free, Vnhich handles thousands of men, women and boys annually. The completion of the purchase of the property at 24 Union Avenue In Portland and the establishing there of a Men's Social Institution under the direction of the Salvation Army is provided for by an Item of $10,000. The training of scores of Salvation Army workers und officers to supply the forces to handle the huge volume of work increased demands have pla ced upon the army, to quicken the fulfillment of the 1920 program, Is provided for by an item of $8,000. Easter Services Greatly Enjoyed at Pine City and Alpine School Pine City, April 14 (Special to The (jazelte-TiniesJ Our Easter services were carried out as had been plunned, regardless of the unfavor able weather both at Pine City and the Alpine school house. The sing ing at each service was greatly en joyed by all. Rev. J. T. Hoekins preached an excellent discourse at the morning service at Sand Hollow. The basket dinner was up to date and a large crowd was present to do jus tice to It. But even after everyone had seemed to eat his fill, there (was much left over. Everyone present seemed to be de lighted with all that took place and the verdict of the Sand Hollow peo ple apppears to be, "let us have an other basket dinner and social gath ering sometime in May." To carry on the prison Iwork, the watching over destitute families left without a provider when the father Is sent to the prison cell and the work of finding employment for and rehab ilitating discharged prisoners, f,200 Is provided. For annual Corps Budget and op erating expenses and for Increasing Salvation Army work In the virgin territory of tho smaller communities of the state, the largest part of the Home Service Program for 1920, $40,000 Is provided. A Salvation Army relief fund for the poor families in the stnte of Ore gon and a fund for special emergen cies of $6,000 Is provided.
