The city has let a contract to' bring water 15 miles at a cost of! $100,000. A new store building of reinforced concrete will soon be com pleted, and it is the niftiest, most ' attractive building that I have ever seen in any small town anywhere. The Elks are building a temple, with stores underneath, which will be fin si. ed in 60 days, and there is a new j hotel being constructed. All ol these buildings are substantial, being of steel and concrete. There is a great shortage of houses, and places for-; merly classified as shacks are being' repaired and improved and made at tractive. Because of the house short age some people are dwelling in tents. Heppner is more prosperous and act ive now than ever before in its hist ory, and it looks as though this condi tion will continue tor a long time. And on top of it all, the weather is delightful." Oregonian. J. M. Morrow, general salesman for the Pendleton Marble Works, of which T. A. Wylie is proprietor, is making this territory as usual. He expects to make a shipment of mon uments into Heppner this spring as in the past. adv. lmo.
