Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Haines of lone were Heppner visitors on Wednesday. Mr. Haines is the proprietor of the , lone hotel and was engaged in the re-: staurant business here several years ago. W. H. Cronk, local manager for the Tum-A-Luui Lumber company, left Wednesday for Boise, Idaho, where he will attend a convention of retail lumbermen. He expects to re turn home the last of the week. R. W. Snider of Black Horse re turned Tuesday evening from Spo kane, where he went earlier In the week to attend the funeral of the late Frank E. Bell. Mr. Snider Is farm ing the Bell ranch on Black Horse. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Erwin and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Erwln of lone were here on Tuesday to attend the funer al of the late Robert Neal Crawford. The Erwlns and Mr. Crawford were chums of boyhood daj at I'rescott, Wash. J. H. Lang of the Heppner Oar age Machine Shop, left on Wednesday for Portland to make a brief visit with Mrs. Lang. Mrs. Lang will join her husband in this city Just as soon as they are able to obtain a house. Ora E. Adkins Is reported to have purchased the Claude Keithley wheat ranch in the Eight Mile district this week. The ranch is composed of nearly 1000 acres and is considered one of the best in that section. The consideration has not been made pub lic. N. Paulsen, traveling inspector for the Canadian Pacific railway, Is spen ding a few days in Heppner this week In the colonization interests of his company. A large number of excur sion trains will be run from the Nor thwest Into Alberta, Saskatchewan and other provinces of Canada, this summer. The Wlgleswort residence, on the corner of Willow and Alta streets, was sold by Mrs. R. F. Wlglesworth to Frank Peters, who owns adjoining property. The deal was made thru E. T. Wade, local real estate man. Mrs. Wlglesworth moved to Portland recently to make her home. Pendle ton East Oregonlan. Building material gives no promise of getting cheaper soon. Minor, local sheepman, who was a business caller here from Cecil on Wednesday, says that lambing is under way at his various Cecil ran ches. Minor A Matlock are lambing a band of five thousand ewes on one of their lower ranches and the lambs are doing far better than the aver age April lamb. The weather Is ideal for lambing, says Mr. Minor. County Judge Campbell, Roudmas ter MeCalcb, Road Viewer Minor, County Clork Waters and 8. A.
