A bronze tablet in mem ory of John Wesley Johnson, first president of the University of Oregon, is soon to be placed in the corridor of the administration building, named Johnson Hall in his honor. The building was named when dedicated tour years ago, but no memorial tab let has yet been placed. The tablet, just received from a Portland brass works, is inscribed as follows: "John Wesley Johnson, the first president of the University of Oregon, was born near Kansas City, Missouri, in the year 1S36. Lewis of Long Prairie, Minn., shot in the leg at Chateau Thierry, losing the use of that leg. He was elected first vice com mander of the legion. It was voted at the Minneapolis convention to hold the 1920 conclave at Cleve land, O. University in this capacity until 1893 and subsequently as professor of Latin until his death in 189S. In commemoration of a life nobly lived and worthily dedicated to the cause of higher education in the common wealth of Oregon this building has been named Johnson Hall." Camas Diversion Dam Completed Reports from Albee are that very satisfactory progress is being made by the Warren Construction Co. on the Teel project work. At Camas creek the diversion dam was com pleted October 22. A large amount of lumber was cut by the mill, and that plant has been shut down for the winter. The victim was a fourteen year old boy, and he was shot by Scharff while in a watermelon patch belonging to the hitter's father near Monument.
