Mr. Hallenger Is a lumber dealer in the thriving north Morrow town. Miss Elza Love, sister of Mrs. Fred Lucas, and Mr. Lucas' mother arriv ed from Wasco Sunday evening to visit at the Lucus home in this city. Ellis Irwin left Sunday by auto tor Rockaway, where he will spend a few weeks with his mother. Mrs. V. R. Irwin and sister Betty. They will return home with him later. Miss Lavelle Lucas, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lucas will leave for Portland Friday, where she will enter St. Mary's Academy for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. C. Y. McXamer and Miss Lucy Butler, who is visiting at the McNanier home in lone, were in Heppner Saturday afternoon. Mr McXamer was here on business. Seven car loads of sheep and cattle went out of the Heppner yards last Sunday for Portland. The shippers were A. Henriksen, two cars cattle; R. J. Carsner, one car of cattle; F. M. Beck one car of cattle and J. J. Mar cus two cars of sheep. iuy with their household goods. By the ay. Latourell Falls, on the Col umbia river, were named after Mr. Latoi'.rt'll's father. Mis-i Josephine Woolery returned to her home in Portland Wednesday after spending the week in this city as a guest of Miss Florence Ralston. Joe Pickett has received his dis-: barge from the V. S. Navy and re turned to Heppner Sunday evening. Mr. Pickett was in the service about; two years, most ut which time was spent on the Atlantic seaboard. He has accepted a position with the O. W. R. & N. Co. and will be located in ; Heppner for the time being. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Gemmell have I returned to Heppner to make their i home, after having resided at Tunia lo, in Deschutes county during the past year and a halt, where ihoy bought land under the Tumalo pro ject. They returned to Heppner lust week, accompanied by their son Walter and his family. Walter has taken charge of the Gemmell wheat ranch just south ot town. Among the Heppner people who plan to attend the Grand Encamp ment of the G. A. R. at Columbus, Ohio, are Mrs. Mary A. Bartholomew and N". S. Whetstone. Mrs. Bartho lomew will be joined ia Portland by her son Fred Bartholomew of Es'.a cada.
