Kummerland, west Heppner farmer, was a business visitor in Heppner Saturday. Leo Hill returned Sunday from an extended auto trip to Western Wash ington and Oregon points. Chas. Swanson, local tailor, left Tuesday for Portland, to spent a va cation of a week or ten days. Dr. D. R. Haylor arrived in Hepp ner Sunday evening from Portland to make a business visit of two weeks. LaVerne Van Marter is hauling the Andy Rood wheat into the ware house in Heppner, using the big Mack truck. Among the new car owners of Heppner Is Paddy Mollahan. Paddy recently bought a Reo Four from the McRoberts-Cohn Auto Co. Mrs. Chas. Lockridge returned to her home at Independence Saturday after making a visit in this city with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Aiken. Ed Bucknum is building a small dwelling just at the rear of his home cn west May street and will fit it up for the convenience of roomers. Earl Hallock has resigned bis po sition with the North Portland stock yards people and expects to arrive In Heppner shortly to reside permanent ly. County Commissioner, G. A. Bleak man, came down from Hardman Fri day evening to attend to some official business coming up before the county court. Hauson Hughes returned the last of the week from a trip to middle western states. He went back two weeks ago with a shipment of cattle to Omaha. Mrs. J. B. Sparks returned to Con don last Friday after spending a few days at Heppner and lone. She was accompanied by Esther Neel and Ber-, nice Sigsbee. N. A. Clark and family returned from a trip to Bend and other central Oregon points Saturday. While In Bend they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Whlttington. Harley Adkins, who works for the O-W. R. & N. Co. at Aberdeen, Wash., came over Saturday to spend as hort time at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Adkins. W. S. McKImmey, formerly a far mer in the Heppner Flat neighbor hood but now retired, came up Sat urday from his home in Salem and is spending a few days here on busi ness. Enterprise has organized a chapter of the American Legion and has asked for a charter. To date nearly twen ty tottns in Oregon have appiiwd for lutmiiersiup in the national organiza tion of the American Legion. R. A. Snyder, well known farmer was in Heppner Friday. Mr. Snyder is just recovering from injuries re ceived three weeks ago when a horse fell with him. The bones in one of Mr. Snyder's feet were broken. L. Fairhurst of "Busy Bee" ranch; were business people In Cecil Satur day. W. G. Palmateer of "Windy Nook" and J. E. Crabtree of "Dotheboy's Hill" did some business in Cecil on Friday. Mrs. Jack Hynd of Butterby Flats left on the local for her native town, Damascus, Ontario, where she will visit amongst her relatives tor an in definite period. Carl Yount, prominent wheat buyer of lone was In Cecil and dis trict taking up samples of the 1911 crop. Carl says that there is some very fine wheat in this neighborhood this year. "Shady Dell," the residence of Clar ence Winter, was the scene of a very pleasant gathering on Sunday after noon.
