Mr. Whltcomb. manager of the Morgan hall, served lemonade and smiled upon each one. George Ely and housekeeper mo tored to lone last Sunday and en countered some tire trouble on their way home. Mr8. Hendricks, sister of Mrs. Hol- brook, Morgan's postmistress, has been and is now, very ill. She left Monday for Hot Lake. George Whltcomb and helper are busy at this time setting up combines. Will Palmateer arrived Sunday from an extended trip to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rivers of Burley, Idaho, were graciously received by their old friends. May they ever re main with us. Family reunion was held at the Fred Ely home Sunday. Ice creani was served to all present. Many of the neighbors attended. Mrs. J. H. Raymond is visiting her father in Anaconda, Montana. LIVE CECIL NEWS HEMS Mr. Nordllng of the Standard Oil Co., Heppner, was down on Friday fixing a gasoline tank for T. H. Lowe. John E. Miller and Olaf Johnson have just finished sawing wood around Cecil. They have put their saw in the shade and gone to the John Day country accompanied by Carl Troedson, on a fishing expedi tion. Walter Pope has bought a Ford car from B. Montague of Arlington, and is promising his friends a ride as soon as he masters his "tin Lizzie." Grandma Nash has returned home from the Curtis ranch where she has been cooking during haying. Miss A. C. Hynd returned home on Sunday from "Rose Lawn," Sand Hollow, where she has been spending the last month with her uncles and aunt. Jack Hynd, accompanied by his niece, Miss Louise Shaw, left for Portland on Monday. Mrs. Fred Buchanan and son of Butter creek, Mrs. Melville Logan, Miss Lucille, Miss Vivian and Master Jean Logan and Merve Logan from California were the guests for the week-end at the Boyd Logan resi dence. A. E. Nash and W. Ahalt left for John Day an Tuesday. They are to locate homesteads. Jerome O'Conner of the Art Minor ranch is doing busines in Tacoma this week. W. G. Hynd, who spent the week end in Cecil, left for a trip to Port land and other points Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Yount and fam ily spent Sunday afternoon visiting friends at Cecil. . Dale Owens of the Jack Hynd ranch left for Spokane Sunday. Harold Ahalt returned to Cecil Fri day after spending several days in Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Miller and Leon Logan and family and Mr. and Mrs. Davles motored to the Everett Logan ranch Sunday. Miss Alice Wilbur is looking after the housekeeping on the Melton place. Grandma Melton is laid up, but is improving. Harvey Ewlng has sold one hun dred tons of hay at $13 per ton to O. French of Heppner. J. H. G. Ewing of Cecil, only son of Harvey Ewing, was married on July 9th at Vancouver to Miss Helen Hockensmith, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hockensmith of Albany. Miss Hockensmith is a graduate of Albany College Conservatory of mu sic and a Junior in College of Liberal Arts at Willamette University. The newly weds are spending their hon eymoon in La Grande.
