To the Editor The Gazette-Times: - I wish to write a word or two to the men aroand here who will have summer fallow and stubble fleWs this summer. I am here fresh from Okla homa and waat to try to take n something here that will make me an honest dollar. At present I feel like during the fall months after wheat ia cut I could ran a bunch of goats by i neramg mem on tome of your stubble and weed summerfallow. So now think a tittle on this idea and if yon have (00 to 1000 acre of this sort of land write to me or see me and we will talk the matter over. Some fields will need a little water near by. I like the climate here. It does not chill a man to death and as to the summer range, I haven't seen any yet as the snow Is hanging on later than usual. I want to try and get a little hold here, but don't want to aronse any reatestators or pnt anyone to any bother. I most get some exper ience as I have bat a few backs to go on. So In conclusion, I notice where our President wants to know the thoughts of the man around his own Jam Rock. My say is that I hope our President will let his mind dead him to the top of If t Hood, far above the Bells of Wealth. For these bells have the chiming we all know. My hopes are that foreign matters will turn for the better and our peace can continue and onr President's procla mation can be Peace and Goodwill to all men. Yours very sincerely, J. O. ALLSTOTT. SPRING Gilbert Coats, retired farmer, who makes his home in Hardnian, was, in Heppner last week on business. Mr. Coats, like many of his fellow citi zens, detests the idea of war, but is ready to do all In bis power for his country in the event of war. ECHO SHEARING PLANT BEGAN WORK TUESDAY With more than 80,000 sheep to be sheared the Jacob Wattenburger shearing crew .will start the season's work at the big Echo plant next Tues day. Twenty-four shearing machines and a full crew of operators will be employed. Between 3000 and 4000 sheep will be handled by the plant daily. Last week a portion of the plant was moved, to Attalia to do some shearing there, but the weather was so bad that nothing could be done and the outfit returned to Echo yester day. Nearly 15,000 that were to have been clipped at the Attalia setting will be driven to the Echo plant. Speaking of this plant, Mr. Wat tenburger says that there is not an other plant in Oregon, Washington or Idaho that will shear 80,000 sheep this spring. The Echo plant is not only the best equipped of any shear ing plant in the northwest, but It handles more sheep than any other. About a month will be required to complete the work here. Bad weath er may lengthen this time a little, and the work will be slowed down some what by the sandy wool caused by the hard wind storms of the past month. Echo News. - The Federated Church. While these views have been seleeted especially for the benefit of Sunday School children we believe they will be of interest to older people also. A cordial invita tion to all.
