Krause were married at Pend leton, Tuesday afternoon by the Bap tist minister, Rev. Cleveuger. The young people are both of Echo. Mr. Finley is a son of W. B. Finley, of Sand Hollow and the bride i9 a native of Roumanla, who has resided for some time at Alkali caynon, near Echo. The couple will reside at Albee for the present. An aged negro was crossing-tender at a spot where an express train made quick work of a buggy and its occu pants. Naturally, he was the chief witness and the entire case hinged upon the energy with which he had displayed his warning signal. A gruelling cross-examination left RasUis unshaken in his story. Later the division superintendent compli mented him on the sead fastness with which he stuck to his story. "You did wonderfully, Rastus," he said. "I was afraid at first you might waver in your testimony." "Nossir, nossir," Rastus exclaimed "But I done feared ev'ry minute that 'ere durn lawyer wa3 agwine to ask me if mah lantern was lit." Dr. D. R. Haylor has returned from Portland. His wife and son are still visiting in the metropolis. T. J. Mahoney has the misfor tune of a broken axle on his Stude baker car while in the mountains last Sunday. W. K. Livingston returned Sunday evening from a brief business trip to Portland. Miss Ethel Casey, who will teach in the Heppner schools again this year, has arrived In the city. J. R. Ashmimhurst, farmer of low er Sand Hollow, is getting an excel lent yield of grain this season. He has his heading all done and is now waiting for the thresher which is now in his neighborhood. All his neighbors are doing well also and the yield of that section will average 20 bushels acrording to the way the wheat is threshing out now. There is many a fine stack of wheat in that section this year. Notice to Farmers. Creek farmers are asked to fix their dams during low wafer.
