Mike Kenny was In town yester day and informed a Gazette man that during the storm on the afternoon of the 3rd Inst, lightning killed a val uable mare and a two-year-old colt belonging to him. The horses were running on the range near Towns Mathews place in Sand Hollow. Towns himself was on the range and near the scene of the accident, but was uninjured. Veach of Lone Rock, was in Heppner early this week with a peti tion asking for the authorities to es tablish a mall route between Hepp ner and Lone Rock.
