during the storm on the afternoon of
the 3rd Inst, lightning killed a val
uable mare and a two-year-old colt
belonging to him. The horses were
running on the range near Towns

near the scene of the accident, but
was uninjured.

arrest but one person on celebration
day, which speaks volumes of praise
for the big crowd assembled.
I. M. Veach of Lone Rock, was in
Heppner early this week with a peti
tion asking for the authorities to es
tablish a mall route between Hepp
ner and Lone Rock. To say that such
facilities are badly needed, is saying
it mild. Let every citizen help out in
this matter. When we help Lone
Rock we help ourselves.
