Leo Hil, of the Heppner Garage is in Portland this week with Mrs, Hill, who recently underwent an operation in a hospital there. W. A. While here he bid cn the Peter Premier land which was offered at Sheriff's sale. Mrs. Karl Beach of Lexington underwent a severe operation at the Heppner Sanatorium last Saturday. Her condition is much improved at this time. Dr. A. P. Culberson left Monday for Seattle where his daughter Luclle will be a member of the, 191 aliiss graduating from the University 6f Washington. , Miss Lena Gilman, principal of one of the Pendleton schools visited several days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D: E. Gilman. She re turned to her home Sunday. It. F. Wiglesworth and wife and son Earl were in Heppner Monday. ! The Wiglesworths. who are extensive '. sheep operators of Butter creek, have just finished the shearing season. Mrs. Lucy T. Wedding and Miss ; Jessica Suhm, teachers in the Hepp- j ner schools, went to Portland Mon day for a visit of two weeks. They will SDend the summer vacation in I Heppner. A C. L. Smith, agriculturist for the O-W. R. & N. Co., spent a few days this week at the W. D. Newlon farm in north Morrow county, where he is conducting some dry farm experi ments. He returned to Portland Wed nesday. Guy Boyer Bhipped six carloads of horses to Portland, Maine the first of the week. From there the horses will be taken across the Atlantic to Europe. This is one of the biggest shipments of horses to be made from this city for sometime. Mary Notson, Elra Hayes and Ken non Smith attended the Boys and Girls' Conference in Pendleton last week. Miss Notson and Mr. Hayes returned home Monday, but Mr.1 Smith went on to Walla Walla, where he will work through the summer. E. G. Noble left this city last Thursday for Portland to join Mrs. Noble. Together, they will go to Rochester, Minn., where Mrs. Noble will undergo a major operation at the hands of the famous Mayo brothers, surgeons.
