C. L. Smith, agriculturist for the
O-W. R. & N. Co., spent a few days
this week at the W. D. Newlon farm
in north Morrow county, where he is
conducting some dry farm experi
ments. He returned to Portland Wed
nesday.
Guy Boyer Bhipped six carloads of
horses to Portland, Maine the first of
the week. From there the horses
will be taken across the Atlantic to
Europe. This is one of the biggest
shipments of horses to be made from
this city for sometime.
Mary Notson, Elra Hayes and Ken
non Smith attended the Boys and
Girls' Conference in Pendleton last
week. Miss Notson and Mr. Hayes
returned home Monday, but Mr.1
Smith went on to Walla Walla, where
he will work through the summer.
E. G. Noble left this city last
Thursday for Portland to join Mrs.
Noble. Together, they will go to
Rochester, Minn., where Mrs. Noble
will undergo a major operation at the
hands of the famous Mayo brothers,
surgeons. They will be absent from
Heppner several weeks and their
many friends here will await wltr. an
