Falls City The sound of sawmill whistles which will soon blow again will be welcomed by the inhabitants here. Portland-Manefee Lumber Co. has received 11,000, 000-ft. order from the Great Northern for freight car construction. Bar View, Tillamook beach resort is to have new S. P. station. St. Johns Peninsula mill will start sawing in May with 250 hands. Portland health officer wants ten physicians appointed on salary to in spect school children. Hood River Odell district is to have $8,000 high school. Oregon City Reconstruction and repair of present bridge proposed, cost $10,000. Roseburg Furniture factory con sidering locating here. Chewancan, Lake county, would like to have a cheese factory. Grants Pass has a legislative club that will use the club. Roseburg gets a loganberry juice bottling plant. Portland Shipbuilding plant to employ 500 men is being promoted by the Chamber of Commerce. Miiton and Freewater are enjoying a bul'.ding boom. Portland S. P. Co. has started work on the Holgate street viaduct to cost $60,000. Portland Dorr estate will cut 100,000,000 ft. of logs on Deep creek east of here.
