Mr. Baraee, formerly editor of the Northwest Progress, is now traveling with a phonograph. He gave a con cert at the St. Charles hotel Wednes day evening to a good sited crowd. D. Andrews has bought Bwan Bros, stove and tin store, Including all of the stock, and will take charge right away. Mr. Andrews has been In busi ness before at tbls place and has many warm friends and the confidence of every body. The Church of Christ meets lu the Academy lor regular services every Lord's Day in the morning at 11 o'clock. Sunday school at 10 o'clock. All are invited to attend. Johnson, of this city, and bas been a suflVrer from birth. The remains were interred In the Masonic cemetery Wednesday forenoon, the services be ing conducted by the Rev. W. L. Jones, recently from Missouri. Elder S. 8. Beaver, of McAllister ville, Junlatta Co', Pa., says his wife is subject to cramp in the stemach. Harry Gay has been In our city for the past week, and bas fitted a large number of people with glasses. Mr. Gay does first-class work, as all who have got glasses from him will testify. The Telephone Co. have a large force of men at work putting up the wires between here aud Albany. They will reach Lebanon about Saturday night. Peter Powers, of Newberg, has been adjudged Insane and was taken to the asylum. He had an idea that he wanted to start a grave yard and has been endeavoriug to hire men to dig graves for some time past It was bis intention to furnish the bodies but before he bad started to do so he was hauled off to Salem. At the recent session of the Oregon Synod of the Cumberland Presbyteri an church held at Salem last week, a new board of trustees were elected for Mineral Spring Seminary at Sodaville, consisting of C. A. Wooley, S. F. Longbottom, J. R. Hume, E. E. Thompson and J. C. Templston. A call to the presidency of the Institution was made to Rev, J. R. Hume, A. B, MrCGRawlingsaiid Miss EdnsCle lan were married at the residence of the brides parents, in Albany, Wednesday Juue 28, 1898. Both parties are well and favorably known all over the county. Mr. Rawllngs is sue of the proprietors of the electric light and water works plant. Mr. Rawllngs aud bis wife arrived lu Lebanon Wed nesday. He has rented the Baliard house, which he had all ready to move right Into. A. F. Hamilton, the merchant of Sweet Home, made an assignment of his pmiwrty to W. B. Donacaof this place, for the benefit of bis creditors. The liabilities amount to $8228 aud the asuets to $8930, mostly in accounts and notes. The iuimedlnte cause for the assignment was the recent fire at Bweet i .oiue, which burned the Ham ilton buildings and stock except about $3&0 worth of goods taken out. Mr. Hamllton'snet loss will amount to over $5000, aud taken in connection witb his forced retirement from busi ness is a severe blow to him, aud will be felt to a large extent by the people at and near Sweet Home.
