Died, at her borne near Bilverton,
Oregon, tin. A. beiall, aged about
60 years. Mrs. Small, was the wife of
Rev. Tbos. X!. Small, a pioneer of the
60's. She was well apd favorably
known, among the members of the
Cumberland Preebyteriau church of
this city, as well as the state over.

large number of people with glasses.
Mr. Gay does first-class work, as all
who have got glasses from him will

The Telephone Co. have a large force
of men at work putting up the wires
between here aud Albany. They will
reach Lebanon about Saturday night.

Peter Powers, of Newberg, has been
adjudged Insane and was taken to the
asylum. He had an idea that he
wanted to start a grave yard and has
been endeavoriug to hire men to dig
graves for some time past It was

hauled off to Salem.

asuets to $8930, mostly in accounts and
notes. The iuimedlnte cause for the
assignment was the recent fire at
Bweet i .oiue, which burned the Ham
ilton buildings and stock except about
$3&0 worth of goods taken out. Mr.
Hamllton'snet loss will amount to
over $5000, aud taken in connection
witb his forced retirement from busi
ness is a severe blow to him, aud will
be felt to a large extent by the people
at and near Sweet Home. We under
stand that a proposition has been uiade
to crew- him a new building in the
event that he can resume business
