Report of the city electrician read and placed on flle. A petition of W. A. Ewing and 37 others, remonstrating against extend* ing the city limit» w as read, A leu a petition from L. W. Pomeroy atei 53 other» asking that the city hmita t>e extended were read. Both petition, ask>d that a new charter be xubmitted to the people. The following resolution» was then adopter! by the council: Will Hr is, after careful examination and legal advice, I have found the prenent charter of the city of Scio defective in many particular» and that many of the ordinances could r.ot lie enforced, therefore Hr. it RKHol.vr.P, that the mayor of ».mt city shall ap|e>int two meml>cra of »i>i*t city council who, together with the mayor of said city, shall constitute a >pedal committee of three, who«« duties »hall be as follow»: To employ a competent attorney and have pre pared, under hi» direction, a new charter for the city of Scio, com plete in every detail and up to date of modem municipalities. The mayor then de clared th« resolution adopted. Council men Bilyeu and Prill were appointed to art in conjunction with the mayor a» a committee as stated in the body of the resolutions. Th« street committee was Instructed to look after the croeawalk near the residence of A. G. Prill, which was re ported to i>« in need of attention. Adjourned.
