In connection With the dying pray«a «tiered by Mr. McKinley, a corre spondent is reminded of a story one. told him by Rev. Dr. Moulton, who waa for over 30 years a missionary in th. Tongan islands, says the London Chronicle. On one of his periodical visita to the smaller islands he landed at one rarely visited even by the mis sionaries, and thare heard that an old Tongan, who had some years bafore been converted to. Christianity, wa. dying. The doctor haat'ened to th« hut of the sufferer, and thrtre a curious sight met his view. The old-man had been propped up by bi« friends so that he clung by hia two arms to a beam stretching across the.room. There he half hung, hklf stood, and with closed eyes and a face drawn with agony he remained constantly murmuring some words. The doctor drew sileptly near to listen, thinking-that the dying, mail was making some la.i request. “Judge of jny astonishment,” he said, in relat ing the incident, “when I heard these words uttered over and over again—in Tongan, of course: ‘Nearer, O God, to Thee! Nearer to Thee!’ In those days, almost 40 years ago,” gilded the doo- tor, “the hymn of the cultured, saintly English-weman had not reached the Tongan natives, but the same spirit that inspired the thought in her doubt less inspired it in the heart of that poor, untutored Christian Tongan.” .♦♦♦4: ’■♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦♦ • I My line of Buggies, Hacks, Wag- 3 < i ons and Carriages are now ready for j J • • your INSPECTION 3:1 have anything you want in any of !: J j the above or farm implements and I < > '•am selling them at factory juices. 4; Buggies from $40 to $1.50.
