Forest service officials at Portland an nounce that the Alsea rlvor road between Waldport and Tide water, Oregon, will bo completed In tlmo to insure- Its uso by July 1st. This road, which Is two miles In length, Is inside tho Siuslaw National forest, and will com plete tho highway between Wnltlport and tho Willamette valley. Heretofore it has been necessary for all trllllc to go by boat from Tidewater to Wald port. There was u road, but it was little moro than a trail In places, and not at all suitablo for heavy loads. The demand for a better road has been Insistent for soma tlmo, but plans for lm-. provoment or development were help up by certain local condi tions, and tho actual work of construction was not begun un til last fall. Now, however, SO per cent or the work is com pleted. It lias been a somewhat difficult and expensive piece of road construction because of tho heavy side hill cut, mostly in tho solid rock.
