With assistance of the international arts community, the potters rebuilt their damaged kilns and are carrying on their art traditions. Kizuna, a phrase often repeated in Japan since the disaster, loosely translates as “the bonds between people,” meaning we’re all part of one family and need each other’s help in order to survive both physically and emotionally.
