For example, if the milking machine goes out of order, or if a new person milks the cows, cases of the disease may appear almost immediately. On the other hand, the staphylococcus germ may be harbored by cows indefinitely with out causing trouble if good milking practices are observed. Leaf Vegetable Wastes U. S. department of agriculture scientists are experimenting with the possibility of making poultry feed by drying wasted portions of leafy vegetables. The leafy wastes, which amount to a staggering sum each year, make nutritious feed for chickens when the leaves are dried to preserve their feed value.
