Memorial day 1950 passed into history as one of
the most perfect from the standpoint of observances as
well as weather. Although crowds of motorists enjoyed
the parks, the plunges and the new golf course, there
was a marked absence of accidents and holiday rowdy­
ism The sun was warm and the sky cloudless, a rare
combination for any holiday and a sure guarantee*of
picnicking families under every shady tree. Lithia park
lured visitors from as far south as Redding and from
