But. n a tu ra lly , thia was not the only blessing th at cam e fro m w eek ly baking. We usually had d e li cious hom em ade bread as w ell as rolls or coffee cake for b re a k fa s t. To save tim e, the d in n er for th at evening was usually a baked one, a f r a g ran t m e at loaf or taste-tem ptin g casserole w ith a delicious baked pudding for dessert. Then, too, the cookie Jar was filled for the best p a rt of the week, and th at m ean t cookies for the lunch boxes and m o re delicious tidbits when we ca m e hom e fro m school! A re your fa m ilie s m issing these treats? Then organize the house hold schedule_at_ n n r » «n t h a t y o u can bake once a week, and till the la rd e r w ith such delicious things as can only com e from hom e baking. But how can you m a k e all these things in one day? H e re 's how: m ix cookie dough and store in r e frig e ra to r; m a ke ice box dough for sw eet rolls, and store this, too. B re a d dough cun be m ixe d In the m o rn ing ; or, if you are m a k in g quick breads, these can be m ixe d in a few m inutes rig h t a fte r lunch. You can plan the b akin g for any d a y of the week. W e usually do it F rid a y or S atu rd ay afternoon, so th ere w ill be a cake or pie in the house for Sunday, and, of course, bread, roils and cookies for the w hole week.
