As a result Oregon ranks twelfth among the States in the matter of payments for old age assistance, and tenth in the ratio of bene ficiaries to population. This has been achieved without additional burdens being thrown upon the property of the taxpayers. Through the efforts of the Governor, and the cooperation of the legislature, the Unem ployment Compensation Commission was cre ated to represent the State in the matter of cooperation with federal authorities in the ad ministration of the several Social Security Acts.
