think this one over: The same process is just as effective on
orchards, farms and other property. Already the Blatter ac­
cuser at large has allowed labor liens to accumulate on prac­
tically every one of his orchard properties!
It is easy to see how, under present conditions, proper ties
may be bought for fabulous prices, a few dollars paid down—
just enough to hold the owners off till immense labor claims
have accrued—ami then forced into a sheriff's sale where the
entire valuation will change hands for the mere price of labor
liens filed. Ami the Bates property «leal isn’t the only contract
Banks has welched on in this manner—it merely is one of the
more glaring examples.
It has been a cause of much wonderment why the Hog­
wallow Blatter’s Head Man never pays his help and the ex­
ample set in the Bates case may be the key to the mystery
which has been addling Jackson county for three years.
At least poor old nutty Bates doubtless will realize, before

there really HAS been a banishment of an aged miner and a
miscarriage of justice on Foots creek.
