Are the boys and girls comfortable these cold
days? There are rampant so many opinions and
ideas as to the proper way to clothe children (and
ourselves for that matter) through cold weather,
that a few suggestions advanced by the Depart
ment of the Interior of our government might
well be repeated here. Cold feet usually mean a
great deal of discomfort. Tight shoes are always
cold. In fitting feet, get shoes plenty long enough,
and not too wide. Woolen stockings and socks are
not recommended under any consideration where
one goes into changing temperatures. They in
duce sweating of the feet and then there is won
derful opportunity for the cold to do its work
H meanly. Any needed extra warmth should be
X supplied by added warm outer foot and leg cov-
H ering. Excessively warm clothing is as injurious
Z as insufficient clothing. Clothing should be well
H distributed over the body. One part exposed and
another warmly clad invites discomfort and sickness.
