Gipe is inttallin ii his offices in the Cusick building one of the most powerful and bvst type., of X-Ray machine on the coast fo: photographic and flouriscopic work The machine is being put in by li. D. Horbach, of New York. Pa. iii Coast representative of the Camp bell Electric company, of Lynn. Mass. Mr. Horback has enlisted a an X-ray specialist and operator in the medical corps of the U. S. army and expects to be called into service .it any time. The machine is an individual power unit of 20 horsepower capacity. I' is so callibrated that all radioraphi and X-ray work is done by matlie matical formula. Examinations for all kinds of flouriscopic and all classed of diagnostic work can be made. There is no possibility of producing an X-ray burn other than by k'iviny from 50 to IU1 second-, ior picture ork and over a half hour by lloiiri copic observation. The machine is worked according to a schedule of mathematic formula already worked out, and when set to a certain time it shut., off automat ically. M. J. Woodward. MEWED EFFORTS URGED ON ARMENIAN RELIEF The following letter was received Saturday by Dr. W. P. While from the state secretary of the .Armenian Relief F'und. Oregon is raising $75, i4) ior the relief of these sufferers and doublc efforts are urged in col lecting ihe amounts as quickly as possible. The letcr explains itself: "Recent cables indicate that con ditions are more serious than we re alized. When General Allenby took Jerusalem in D :embre, 1917, he im mediately cabled our committee to lend him $16,00 per month, as he had found 50.000 starving people in the Holy City. We sent him $25.0110 at, ence. Further payments will depend on our monthly and other pladges. "Another cabby asks us to assume immediately the care of 10.0UO or phans. If we receive them we must continue their care. Still other cables show that we are saving the lives cf hundreds of thousands and tell of the pathetic gratitude of the suffer-, ers. White, pastor of the United Presbyterian church of this oity. this morning received a tele gram from Seattle requesting him to reconsider his decision made some months ago to decline a call as first assistant to Dr. Mathews in the First Presbyterian church of Seattle. The first call to this church was rccciril last fall but was declined by Dr. White, who stated to a Democrat -r.ircsentativc this morning that he !id not think he would accept the offer.
