At the close of the luncheon, the girls attended the movies. . Wednesday evening the A. M. A. girls enjoyed a covered dish "feed" at the home of Mist Janet Dawson. After a delicious supper, a crowd of hoys surprised the girls, and the re mainder of the evening was spent in music and dancing. A very successful ten cent tea was given by the Ladies' Aid Society of the Baptist church, at the Hotel Al bany with Mrs. B. R. Westbrook as hostess. About fifty ladies were pres ent and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon spent in fancy work. Also a very good program was "given. Later refresh ments were) served. ' Tonight the Esculnntus club will hold a covered dish dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Arnold. The "feed" will probably be an elab orate one as it usually is and after ward the evening will be spent in dancing and card playing. Mitt Myrtle Cur ry, participating in a contest, won the tilver medal. The Daughteri of Itabclle met this week on Tuesday. District Deputy Mrt, Schaffcr, wat present at thit meeting and the presentation of the charter wat made by her. After a liusinctt meeting a toclal hour and refreshments were enjoyed. 9 The O. N. G. military club enjoyed another dance, on Tuetday evening, A large crowd was present, and a part of the procccdt wat used for the benefit of Albany' candidate for rote queen, 9 9 9 Mrt. M; L. Senders entertained the membrrt of the Needlccraft club, on Thursday afternoon of thit week. Snowballs and narclttut were pretti ly arranged about the rooms. Most of the afternoon wat spent in sewing and conversation, but the latter part wa given over to a busines meet ing, after which a dainty collation was served. After the regular review, an enjoyable tocial time wat had, follow ed by a thort program which1 provok ed a great deal of merriment. Later an elaborate wat terved, the table being . decorated with cut flowers. After a pleasant afternoon, occupied with fancy work, the hostess terved a dainty lunch. Thotc present were: Mesdames J. H. Saflcy, Elma Goff. Smith, Clyde Peacock, G. W. Goff, J. G. M. girls were entertain ed on Tuesday evening by Mrs. Ar chie Mctzgar and Mrs. Albert Min ton at tlx home of Mrs. Mctzgar. Af ter an evening spent in fancy wor and conversation, dainty refreshments were served. ' Mrs. Simon Heist of Salem will be a week end guest of her daughter, Mist Lulu Heist of this city. W The dining room of the high school was prettily adorned in wild roses on Tuesday noon, when Miss Georgia Remit and Miss Eva Olmstcad en tertained at a luncheon. The hostesses were assisted by the domestic class IV. Covers were laid for about ten guests. . m 9 m Gracious hospitality was dispensed to the "Ncous Numphe" club by Mrs. A. L. Geddes, who was a charming hostess on Friday at her home on .Fourth street. The affair was planned by Mrs. Geddes to entertain for the members of the club of which hed daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Marquam, now of Bishop, Calif., is a former , mem ber. A most delightful afternoon was passed in fancy work and conver sation. The rooms were prettily dec orated with voscs of lovely peonies and other spring flowers. The hostess served a bounteous and most deli cious lunch to her guests, assisted by Mrs. Willard and Miss Wills. As they departed, the guests all agreed that Mrs. Geddes had given them a a most enjoyable afternoon, prov ing herself a most gracious hostess. Wcatherford, ex-president, presided over the meeting at which officer for the ensuing year were elected. Mr. Guy Lewelling wat choten at new president; vice president, Mrt. Bo dine; tccrctary, Mm. Summers; treat-' urer, Mr. Penland. The subjects to be studied next season will be two of Shakespeare' works, a tragedy or history and a comedy. 9 The armory wat the cene of a pret ty dancing party Friday evening. The music was furnished by a local or chestra, and many neighboring towns were represented by the dancers. Junior week end at the University of Oregon began on Thursday. At this time the Junior Prom and many other affair are given for the pleasure of the out of town guests. Albany peo ple who are attending these func tions, are Mitt Inez Lemke, Mist Marion Anderson, Leigh Anderson, Clay Cornctt, Lyle Bain, and Francis Beal. 9 9 The Monday club wat entertained thit week by Mrt. ' 9 9 9 An enjoyable afternoon was spent Tuetday when Mrt. J. J. Chipman entertained the Entre Nous club. Mrs. Kcntner was the honored guest and the club membcrt present were the Mesdames O. D. Austin, J. K. Wcatherford, S. S. Train, L. L. Swan, Earl Brandcberry, J. A. W. Gardiner, L. E. Tracy, W. G. Smith, and Mrs. J. J. Chipman. 9 Mrs. J, M. Hawkins was a delight ful hostess on Tuesday of this week, when she entertained for the mem bers of the Tuesday club and a few invited guests. The roomt were, dain tily ond attractively decorated with wisteria, larkspur and ferns. A pleas ant afternoon "was passed in sewing and conversation, and fterwards a delicious lunch wa terved by the hostess. ' On Wednesday of this week Mrs. Albert Minton tentertained the mem bers of the Coterie Club. During the afternoon fancy work was enjoyed by the members: Mrs. A. W. Metzger, Mrs. Victor Olliver, Mrs. I. M. Doughton, Mrs. William Myers, Mrs. R. M. Russell, Mr. Charles Curry. Mrs. Earl Boyle and Mrs. G. W. Wright and Mrs. C. E. Clifford as in vited guests. This ras the last meet ing of the club for this season. .999 On Tuesday evening, Mrs. Howard Jcnks at her home in Tangent enter tained the graduating class and a few intimate friends at a luncheon in hon or of her brother, Loren Luper, a member of the class. The class col ors were green and white and these colors were carreid out in the dec orations. There were twenty-one present, and Mr. A. D. Hudson was toastmaster. w Mrs. Elmer Conn entertained the Jolly Twelve club this week. The la dies enjoyed a very pleasant' after noon with conversation and music. Mrs. G. H. Young rendered several selections on the piano. Snow balls effectively decorated the rooms. Be sides the club members, Mrs. G. H. Young, Mrs. Parrish, of Jefferson, Mrs. L. Mosicr, and Mrs. A. Bowers, enjoyed Mrs. Conn's hospitality. 9 The Pythian Sisters held a delight ful social meeting on Tuesday. Host esses this week were Mrs. Junkins, Mrs. Percy Kelly, Mrs. M. J. One of the coming social events of importance is the "Old Fashioned Social" which will be given Saturday afternoon on May twenty. The La dies' Aid of the Presbyterian church will be hostesses and a hearty invita tion is extended to all ladies of dif ferent churches. Decorations Will all be of the pretty old fashioned style and every one is requested to wear an old fashioned costume, and bring ten cents, for that is all it will cost you for this delightful social. 9 9 9 ''- The Masonic Temple was the scene of two big gatherings during the past week on Wednesday night, St. John's Lodge was host to nearly a hundred Masons and exemplified the work of the Master's degree. The team that will perform at the session of the grand lodge in this city next month, was in charge of the work. Friday night the Eastern Sstar was officially visited by Mrs. Mary E. Houck of Roseburg, worthy grand matron. At six-thirty a banquet was served to nearly two hundred, in the large din ing room, after which degree work' was v exemplified.
