Third and Yyon Streets SPRAY FOR PEACH LEAF CURL. The Time to Do It ia a Week or Two Before the Buds Come Out Peach leaf curl is a fungus disease and caused by fungus parasite. The in fections of this fungus occur early in the spring just as the tender young leaf points are emerging from the buds and the infections are particularly bad when the wcatl'er is moist nd varn-. just at this stage. Some varieties of peaches arc much more affected than others. Peach Leaf Curl is a disease that has caused thousands of dollars of loss e'ich year in the st: tc of Oregon. Practically all of this loss is unnecessary since the disease can be satisfactorily controll ed with one spraying at the right time. , Great injury is done when a large percentage of the leaves are affected even though the tree may later put out its leaves. Furthermore the tree may die from the disease when it suffers for two or more years from severe attacks. We would recommend therefore that the grower at the present time spray their peach trees a week or two before the buds begin to come out. ' Using either the 6-6-30 Bordcau or the lime-surfur l-to-10. If you have the San Jose scale la your territory use the lime-sulphur instead of the Bordeau. Also on ac count of the high cost of the copper sulphate (bluestone) the lime-sulphur wourld be much cheaper. Successful control however, cannot i.e expected unless the work is thor oughly done, every bud most be cov ered with the spray material. A mist spray under considerable pressure will give the best results. - D. W. RUMBAUGH, Fruit Inspector. PROSPEROUS MERCHANTS Deal in the Light Electric -. . t , .. .. ".'.
